A young man learns a tough lesson in Will Robson-Scott's gritty and perceptive video for regular collaborator Hak Baker.The 'Cool Kids' of Baker's songtitle are portrayed here as two teenagers from the Isle of Dogs - Baker's home area - with the involvement of one of them in local drug dealing, and his mate as his enthusiastic cheerleader. But the excitement and esteem&nbsp;that the lifestyle brings comes to a sudden end, to be replaced by cold reality, and fear.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;[imgtoken data:1]Following the singer-songwriter and director's previous collaborations, on <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2019/06/12/hak-baker-dopehead-will-robson-scott/59173" target="_blank">Dopehead</a> and <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2020/04/28/crunch-ft-hak-baker-lucky-life-will-robson-scott/64483" target="_blank">Lucky Life</a>, the Cool Kids video takes a more conventionanl structure, but it resonates with palpable believability. It is partly&nbsp;due to the story arguably coming from Baker's own youthful experiences, but the execution and performances are also key to making this a riveting piece.There is an excellent dynamic between the two leads, played by Shak Benjamin and Hector Abbott - the latter acting as junior partner yet enabler of his quieter&nbsp;friend - and the&nbsp;use of a body rig by Benjamin puts the viewer at close quarters to his story, and his horrible predicament when things go wrong.As much as anything this&nbsp;is about the psychological impact of fear, which is why this is such an effective cautionary tale.[imgtoken data:2]&nbsp;

Gorgeously photographed and&nbsp;richly&nbsp;graded, up-and-coming director Irrum has delivered this mystifying video&nbsp;for Norwegian singer-songwriter Kari Jahnsen, aka&nbsp;Farao&#39;s track Hunter.&nbsp;Visually, its a departure from Irrum&#39;s previous studio-shot promo for&nbsp;Sasha Siem&#39;s <a href="http://www.promonews.tv/videos/2015/02/09/sasha-siem-so-polite-irrum" target="_blank">So Polite</a>, but is similar in its&nbsp;strange, somewhat uncanny delivery of visual&nbsp;information.Shot in Snowdonia, Wales, the video is made up of wonderfully composed shots zooming in and out of various visual clues. Thematically consistent with the song, it follows a loose narrative of the hunter and the prey, with narratively evocative shots of a serpent and an eagle seeking their next meal,&nbsp;camouflaged faces amongst the inhospitable wilderness, and most surprising of all, a shot of a human body submerged in&nbsp;the mossy clearing of a&nbsp;rocky valley,&nbsp;in&nbsp;eternal, icy rest.&nbsp;Farao says that the song is all about conquering and oppression, &quot;and we&nbsp;wanted to reflect that by making a video that leaves the viewer feeling intimidated and hopefully a little anxious.&quot;Meanwhile,&nbsp;Irrum &ndash; formerly of Berlin-based collective&nbsp;Be Proud Of Your Kids, before returning to London and recently signing with Gas &amp; Electric &ndash; describes the shoot as &quot;a bloody escapade in north Wales!&nbsp;&nbsp;

Trippy&nbsp;visuals of plants, birds and Swim Deep bandmembers&#39; busts populate To My Brother,&nbsp;directed&nbsp;by Irrum.&nbsp;His first video since joining Gas&amp;Electric,&nbsp;it&nbsp;conjures up a&nbsp;strange and otherworldly setting;&nbsp;hypnotising orbs of refracted light and the&nbsp;saturated colours of wildlife&nbsp;serve as a dazzling accompaniment to&nbsp;the futuristic sounds of the&nbsp;track.The clip then gets progressively psychedelic as the morphing human busts&nbsp;melt and shift, all the while reflecting&nbsp;vibrant, ethereal light.
