Shot over two days in LA and Palm Springs, Bastille singer Dan Smiths flees Los Angeles and its strange-eyed inhabitants to the calmer confines of the desert in Jesse John Jenkins' promo for Pompeii.
Producer Brett Webb explains: "Jesse wanted to capture the dramatic change in landscape you can get in California going from LA to the desert". 
At the time of writing, Pompeii is currently number 2 in the UK singles chart with their debut album sitting pretty at both number 1 and 2 on Itunes.

Peppered with some creative use of cigarette smoke and shot at a cool easy pace, a group of teens get together for some fun in Emile Rafael's promo for Saturday, Monday's Headshake. 
"The video focuses on a group of youngsters hanging out and listening to music. All of them together in this moment are happy despite their turbulent lives and the pains of growing up" explains Emile.
"The artist and the label wanted gritty teenagers at a party, and whilst there are many effective promos that feature the same thing, I thought in this video I could take it a bit further and concentrate on the teens themselves and form portraits around them.
I've always been fascinated by how much of a story a still portrait can tell about someone. I wanted a video that not only reminiscences about how cool it is to be a teenager at a party, but also that period of growing up and the awkward romance of that age. 
"The portraits really had to be poignant, so we referenced a lot of award winning photographs especially in the street photography".

Bringing new meaning to the term 'elevator music', Jesse John Jenkins shoots The Vaccines riding a lift where they manage to not only perform catchy new song Teenage Icon with all their equipment, they also transform into teen-friendly female and/or androgynous versions of themselves in a parallel universe-cum-lift.
Following his signing to Partizan and coming hot on the heels of his lovely video for The Vaccines' <a href="http://www.promonews.tv/2012/06/15/the-vaccines-no-hope-jesse-john-jenkins-now-signed-partizan/" target="_blank">No Hope</a>, Jesse coaxes a spirited (if somewhat claustrophobic) performance out of the West London fourpiece - and their gorgeous counterparts. 
The opening and closing sequences were shot in the municipal magnificence of Wandsworth Town Hall, and the performances at Malcolm Ryan Studios. Good stuff.

There are terrific performances from Chloe Farnworth and Mark Wallington as the troubled lovers, with assured direction by Nick Rutter, who's best known for his commercial work for the likes of Lynx and Heineken.

Blake Claridge's video for English alt-folkies A Band Of Buriers' Filth sees him move confidently into short film territory. In fact, it's very powerful - the story of a young man and woman, living together in a country cottage, that builds to a horrific, unexpected climax. 
Initially it appears that the story - written Rob Hayes and the band - is all about the deteriorating relationship between the couple, played by Lily Loveless and Matthew Lewis - the latter best known for playing Neville Longbottom in the Harry Potter movies. 
But it becomes clear that a human bone, to which the girl is strangely attached, is playing a darkly pivotal role in that relationship. And we'll find out what part of the human anatomy that bone comes from...

"The video is a pretty special one for us due to it being the first time the full <a href="http://www.studiomurmur.com/" target="_blank">Studio Murmur</a> collective has crewed up for a video" says Ian. 
"Due to this we managed to be rather ambitious despite the limited budget due to having worked together so often as a crew. Huge thanks should also go out to Pasha Hotel who let us take over their lobby for a whole morning. If you're ever stuck on Walworth Road and in need of a turkish bath, Pasha is the place to go to!"

Ollie Murray delivers his psychedelic promo for a new remix of TEED's Garden. The aim was to create something totally different to the <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watchv=G-1HNnxb0WE&amp;feature=results_main&amp;playnext=1&amp;list=PL06475BAA59BAFEE2" target="_blank">original</a> video, which would work along side it and as a separate entity in its own right. 
The brief was for a 'non average, atypical music video.' Epic, trippy and low-fi - in the vein of Ollie's video for The Horrors and his other new one for The Big Pink - were the key requests for the promo to match the band's electro powerpop following.

Ian Pons Jewell delivers this quirky, hard-edged and tongue-in-cheek winner for DJ Shadow's I'm Excited - from his forthcoming album The Less You Know The Better (September 26).
With an enigmatic performance from Afrikan Boy, Jewell's maverick promo certainly displays a flair for the surreal.
"The visuals came about pretty directly from listening to the track" explains Pons Jewell "originally drawing inspiration from the African Space Program. It became a bit out of hand trying to write a piece where he built a spaceship, so teleportation became the better option for the budget. 
"He was styled as a Gaddafi type dictator with an obsession for inter-dimensional travel, employing the skills of a mad inventor to make the contraption. We ended up with just over a week to turn it around".
