Troy Roscoe directs a stripped-back yet hugely captivating promo for Potter Payper.&nbsp;Shot at night with a backdrop of neon shopfronts, the video features a tireless performance from Payper, whilst different characters play out their day-to-day routines.&nbsp;The approach works like a charm on this project, with the three minute runtime passing by like a bright spark, never feeling stale or tired."Simplicity is key in this one," Rocoe explains.&nbsp;"I think sometimes as creatives we overthink our ideas, trying to constantly improve on what’s already out there or to come up with something that’s not been done. But sometimes you have to reign it in and realise less is more."Shot in what was actually three takes, this one-take form visual sees Potter Payper in a dystopian-lit corner shop location, as the world around him evolves, whilst he performs in a nonchalant manner undisturbed by anything around him. Potter smashed this and took direction super well, which enabled us to shoot all of this within two&nbsp;hours!"I'm definitely going to get into more one-take content -&nbsp;or even just more tripod shots as not everything has to have crazy movement."

Lewis Cater follows the enigmatic promo for <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2023/01/26/shinedown-dead-dont-die-lewis-cater/80130">Dead Don't Die</a> with another Shinedown collaboration - this time for A Symptom Of Being Human.&nbsp;The video deals with the unique yet universal challenges that are part and parcel of being human, touching upon anxiety, the cost of living&nbsp;and the overarching search for meaning in the everyday.&nbsp;Visually representing the highs and lows of life, the video focuses on a young girl, who discovers a book in a grand library with completely blank pages. She soon projects her fear and anxieties onto the page, until a breakthrough moment shines a light on the brighter side of life, and the friends who help her navigate the storm.[imgtoken data:1]The slick, filmic aesthetic perfectly contrasts the golden light of the library with the cold, clouded gloom of her fear vignettes, and the central performance helps marry the different setups to great effect.&nbsp;&nbsp;"There’s something quite magical about filming in London in December and we quite literally captured this underneath the festive glow of Westminster," Cater explains. "We were blessed with such an amazing team who stepped straight onto this after we wrapped on the Dead Don’t Die video."

KSI and Oliver Tree can't catch a break with the woman they love, in the offbeat promo for Voices.Directed by Oliver Tree, and infused with his unique&nbsp;brand of oddball&nbsp;comedy, we see both artists try to impress the same girl at a romantic dinner - and&nbsp;failing dismally. She sees them as being just too childish.&nbsp;From there, we see a cycle of absurdist vignettes, with big hair, streams of CGI tears and a mini-meltdown at a restaurant.&nbsp;From the unique aesthetic through to the top-notch styling and visual effects, the video is a&nbsp;tour de force&nbsp;of creativity. Will no doubt make some waves come award season.&nbsp;

Lewis Cater directs a minacious promo for Shinedown, where under the ominous surveillance of an unspecified evil, the US rock band&nbsp;look fear straight in the eye.&nbsp;The video for Dead Don't Die jumps between a rowdy performance section in an ornate structure, and enigmatic vignettes with frontman Brett, where various weapons and objects hang mid-air, threatening to break through and injure him - but unable to do so.It's a thrilling addition to both the band and Cater's videography, and packed full of filmic moments and great performances.[imgtoken data:1]&nbsp;&nbsp;"We shot the video for Dead Don’t Die straight after the band’s Wembley headline show last month," Cater says.&nbsp;"It was a special shoot as it was the first time that the band had shot a video outside of United States."It’s a video about resilience, the strong-willed, the bend but never break human spirit. The band use their strength within to control the darkness and retreat to a more positive space."We follow Brent (Shinedown's frontman) as he is pursued by an unspecified evil. "Lose it All&nbsp;was one of those songs - it has such an incredible vocal, and I was buzzing to have the opportunity to capture it live."We were keen on a one-shot performance from the very start, and so wanted to set ourselves inside a stunning location that offered something visually beautiful at every turn, and we landed on Dean Valley Studios as the perfect fit - which also gave us some incredible acoustics for the audio recording.And because I always want to know the answer to this when I see a one-take...we went with Take 6."

Raja Virdi explores the thin line between good and bad for the big&nbsp;team-up of Marshmello, Mae Muller and Trippie Redd.&nbsp;The video for American Psycho takes place in a series of stylish custom-built sets, with a red and white colour scheme which represents the dichotomy of a toxic relationship.&nbsp;Muller and Redd thrive in their unique setups, and Virdi's use of dynamic transitions, animated elements and rhythmic editing keeps the video constantly engaging.[imgtoken data:1]"It was such a pleasure to direct this promo," says Virdi. "I'd been wanting to do a concept like this for a while and glad it fit the song so well. I love the themes of duality, and seeing the difference performance states of Mae between the red toxic sets and the white angelic sets."I really wanted to move the camera seamlessly between the spaces, keeping the visual constantly engaging with how we reveal new moments."Collaborating with my regular DOP Pieter Snyman and the insanely talented production designer Sarah Asmail&nbsp;ensured we found the rhythm for the piece and how best to give each space a unique feel for each artist on the song.[imgtoken data:2]"The turnaround was immense for this one with needing to shoot and deliver all within a week. But thanks to an insanely talented crew, we just about got there&nbsp;- albeit with little to no sleep, lol. Never a good sign...THE&nbsp;REST - Alex Motlhabane and Lewis Levi - ratchet up the tension throughout this enigmatic narrative, alluding to&nbsp;the legendary tale of the Creature of Bodmin Moor and a cult that feverishly worships it.SBTRKT came up with the concept, with Nila - who created the artwork that is central to the narrative. "There's a whole lot of story layers in the video which i’ll leave you to figure out!"&nbsp;SBTRKT writes under the video on YouTube. "Check the trailer which is the prequel to it!&nbsp;"The main plot for the video represents my journey through the music business - and my prior records being owned in perpetuity by someone else. Jack Lightfoot directs a touching exploration of brotherhood, in his promo for Sam Tompkins' latest single.&nbsp;Starring real-life siblings Sonnyboy and Buddy Skelton, the video for My Brother interweaves several narrative vignettes, set in an anachronistic, early Noughties time period.&nbsp;In the concept, the younger of the two brothers - Buddy - is struggling to connect with Sonnyboy, and feels left out when trying to spend time with him. This all changes when their father dies, and the two form an unbreakable bond and friendship.&nbsp;"It was great to team up with Sam again, this time in the director's chair," says Lightfoot.&nbsp;"Sam came up with the narrative, and having a younger brother myself it really struck a chord with me - we've certainly been through many similar situations together - sorry Tom!&nbsp;"I was delighted that we managed to land Sonnyboy and Buddy for the lead roles - they're such a talented family and look great on camera, they really took this video to the next level. Big thanks as always to the production, artist, and label dream teams involved."&nbsp;

A day from Hell just won't let up, in&nbsp;Hector Dockrill's tragic promo for Chase &amp; Status and BackRoad Gee.&nbsp;&nbsp;The video for When It Rains features actor Jack McMullen as a down-on-his-luck everyman, trying to go about his day to day life to disastrous effect.&nbsp;It all starts with an antagonistic phone call and a cigarette lit the wrong way, and builds to a high-octane climax full of suspense, blood, chase scenes&nbsp;and the opportunity for the character to finally get the nicotine hit he's gagging for.&nbsp;Brilliant work which anchors on McMullen's performance and a Dockrill's keen eye for narrative.&nbsp;

Director Charlie Sarsfield continues his collaboration with Kojey Radical with the video for Payback, featuring Knucks - and adding a few more famous faces too, at a swish dinner&nbsp;party.&nbsp;&nbsp;The dynamic visual perfectly encapsulates the high energy track, bringing to life a sumptuous aesthetic that sees the artist and his friends breaking bread and partying in style, dripping with luxury styling - with classic Saville Row suits adorning each of the artists.[imgtoken data:1]Kojey and Knucks are joined by Wretch 32, Cashh, Shae Universe, Niko Omilana and more, at a spectacular location, for a contrasting follow-up to Sarsfield's previous collab for Kojey Radical - the reflective, domestic-set video for Gangsta.“It's been a real joy to work closely with Kojey on our second consecutive visual," says Charlie Sarsfield. "We spoke of wanting to build on Gangsta, pushing that aesthetic. Our tag line became, 'If Gangsta was the journey, Payback is the fruition’. Maintaining our portrait approach to performance, emphasis was put on careful framing again.[imgtoken data:2]“Kojey asked me to watch a film called Climax&nbsp;which inspired the high angled shots. We then paired this up with inspiration from old school music videos by the likes of Beastie Boys and NWA with low angled framing, which helped to create a really dynamic visual across the board. We felt this ‘old school’ backbone matched and elevated the sound that Swindle masterfully pieced together."It was an honour to quite literally dance with Kojey again and it was my first time working with Knucks, who is such a great artist and someone I'd admired from afar for a while. It wasn't without its trials, but the payback has been all worth it."
