Taz Tron Delix directs the ethereal promo for Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding's collab on Miracle.&nbsp;The otherworldly video is inspired by the&nbsp;Nineties-style&nbsp;trance elements in the track, exploring&nbsp;a futuristic clash of desert landscapes, anachronistic styling and mysterious movement, revitalising and contemporising the transcendent aesthetics that were born out of the original movement.&nbsp;[imgtoken data:1]The video cuts between Ellie wearing a jewelry filled tiara and leather outfit with the look of a powerful Queen on an elevated platform surrounded by what appears to be worshippers in sleek beige suits and balaclavas. Hector Dockrill directs a heartwrenching promo for new Lewis Capaldi track Pointless.&nbsp;The narrative for the video captures a mother-son relationship with beautiful and heart-breaking intimacy. Spanning a couple of decades, the concept follows a&nbsp;single mother who strives against all odds to give her son the life she never had, and is packed with an emotional punch.&nbsp;With a wonderful performance&nbsp;from&nbsp;BAFTA winner Niamh Algar (The Virtues, Raised by Wolves)&nbsp;and three actors playing the son at different stages of his life - including Charley Palmer-Rothwell as her grown-up son -&nbsp;the video reinterprets the song's lyrics to explore a different type of relationship, and it works perfectly.[imgtoken data:1]The naturalistic cinematography and relatable themes help make the video feel incredibly realistic and universal, and it will no doubt have viewers thinking about their own loved ones as we enter the festive period.&nbsp;With mixed dialogue throughout, we both hear and see glimpses into the ups and downs of their daily lives over the years including financial hardship and the tightrope of being a working single parent. And in keeping with the theme of family, Laura Dockrill – Hector’s sister - wrote the script, making this a family affair both on and off screen.“Lewis had a beautiful idea that focused on the mother/son bond, and how responsibility shifts as you grow older," says Hector Dockrill. "Niamh Algar is a phenomenal talent and we’re already chomping at the bit to work together again. With only a week’s prep, she managed to immerse herself into the role and completely make it her own. KLVDR's 11 minute epic for Stormzy's big return with Mel Made Me Do It is remarkable in a number of ways, and not least of course due to the star quality and sheer number of the cameo&nbsp;appearances. And yes, that does include the Special One...More to the point is the ambition of the piece. Fom the chatshow hosted by Jonathan Ross and ZeZe Mills, with Stormz sharing the sofa with Louis Theroux and Dina Asher-Smith - watched by Usain Bolt, at his home in Jamaica -&nbsp;to performance elements in the studio and the meeting with Jose Mourihno, to the momentous final chapter bringing a couple of generations of Black British talent together that includes a tribute to the late Jamal Edwards.At that point, Stormzy hands over duties to provide the spoken-word piece called Greatness - written by Wretch 32 and read by Michaela Cole. It's a&nbsp;quietly powerful climax of an impressive and entertaining production - this was a five day shoot,&nbsp;plus shooting Bolt in Kingston - that amounts to a big statement of intent by&nbsp;Stormzy - and reminds us of his unmistakeable charisma.&nbsp;&nbsp;And of course, the eponymous Mel, stylist Melissa Holdbrook-Akpose, namechecked by Stormzy in the songtitle, is there too, both behind and in front of camera - with her lint roller.

Charlie Robins directs a hypnotic promo for The Comet Is Coming.&nbsp;Unabashedly wild and atmospheric, the visual sees a small group of people driven insane by an enigmatic force, visualised in the form of a circle.&nbsp;Kept purposefully vague, Robins combines live action with elements of animation, demanding&nbsp;viewers to come to their own conclusion as to what's happening. One thing's for sure, it's not your everyday scenario.[imgtoken data:1]"This was always going to be pretty nuts," says Robins. "I had a great conversation with the band about the new album called Hyper Dimensional Expansion Beam. That name was enough of a jumping off point, and I just threw a load of crazy shit at it. It felt right to be weird and post-apocalyptic but also disorientating and fucked up. I wanted to make people feel a bit sick in all honesty. "The music is so crazy yet intricately put together, there is something beautifully chaotic about it which fit very well with some post and camera techniques I’ve been developing for a while."I worked very closely with the immense team at Agile (particularly the post guys!) to make this film happen. What a seriously talented, generous and wonderful bunch of humans they are."&nbsp;

Raja Virdi explores the thin line between good and bad for the big&nbsp;team-up of Marshmello, Mae Muller and Trippie Redd.&nbsp;The video for American Psycho takes place in a series of stylish custom-built sets, with a red and white colour scheme which represents the dichotomy of a toxic relationship.&nbsp;Muller and Redd thrive in their unique setups, and Virdi's use of dynamic transitions, animated elements and rhythmic editing keeps the video constantly engaging.[imgtoken data:1]"It was such a pleasure to direct this promo," says Virdi. "I'd been wanting to do a concept like this for a while and glad it fit the song so well. I love the themes of duality, and seeing the difference performance states of Mae between the red toxic sets and the white angelic sets."I really wanted to move the camera seamlessly between the spaces, keeping the visual constantly engaging with how we reveal new moments."Collaborating with my regular DOP Pieter Snyman and the insanely talented production designer Sarah Asmail&nbsp;ensured we found the rhythm for the piece and how best to give each space a unique feel for each artist on the song.[imgtoken data:2]"The turnaround was immense for this one with needing to shoot and deliver all within a week. But thanks to an insanely talented crew, we just about got there&nbsp;- albeit with little to no sleep, lol. Raja Virdi directs a signature&nbsp;one-shot video for an unexpected collaboration between Sigrid and Bring Me The Horizon's Oli Sykes&nbsp;on Bad Life.&nbsp;Bringing both a sense of scale and simplicity to what is quite an intimate idea, Virdi uses a stripped-back set as an environment for the two artists to inhabit and make their own.&nbsp;The cinematic visual is packed full of gripping moments and emotional performances, which take viewers on an engrossing journey.[imgtoken data:1]<blockquote>I tried to treat the music video as a gig&nbsp;in a way, moving up and down the stage.</blockquote>Sigrid has commented that&nbsp;her and Sykes wanted the video to be simple enough to&nbsp;emphasise the song's lyrics. "It’s a song that I hope can offer some comfort for anyone who’s having a rough day, knowing that it will pass," she explains. "We collaborated with Raja, and we ended on this dark, slightly surreal world of Oli and I on each side of a worn-down house, not knowing what the other one is going through on the other side."Oli’s such a natural performer, so I knew he’d be great anyways. I tried to treat the music video as a gig, in a way, moving up and down the stage.”Virdi says that the concept of the one-shot film was to lean into those themes, of getting through the 'bad life' to reach the other side.&nbsp;[imgtoken data:2]<blockquote>Life can feel like a rollercoaster sometimes. I wanted to represent that feeling...</blockquote>"Life can certainly feel like a rollercoaster sometimes," he says.&nbsp;"I wanted to represent that feeling with Sigrid and Oli performing on a theatrical, otherworldly sunken set in the middle of a vast body of water, which suddenly transforms into a stormy and thunderous surrealistic visual with the eventuality of reaching resolution."&nbsp;"Working with Sigrid and Oli was a dream," Virdi continues. "They are both extraordinarily talented performers and were absolute troopers through a long shoot day.&nbsp;The crew were fantastic and took what was a very challenging one-shot, head on. Huge props to the crane, SFX and lighting teams for working in synergy so well with all the cues and my backbone 1st AD Chris Malin making it all run smooth. Plus my incredible post team of colourist Connor Coolbear (and the entire ETC team) and the hero Jakob Thorhallsson who smashed the tricky VFX.&nbsp;"Much love to my production family in (producer) Joseph, Noir, my brilliant rep Claire and commissioner Connie for getting this all over the line."

Wardens ride and die in Will Dohrn's latest visually inventive extravaganza for Jeshi - this one&nbsp;featuring Obongjayar.Following on from Dohrn's <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2022/03/08/jeshi-3210-will-dohrn/75291" target="_blank">brilliantly clever&nbsp;video for 3210</a>, in the promo for Protein the London rapper rides off into the distance in an Uber. This is viewed&nbsp;through a screen attached to the front of a now beaten up, Uber-turned-rally car which shows Jeshi and Obongjayar performing, whilst infrared lasers emitted by an original Xbox Kinect illuminates them.Throw in some mobedding traffic wardens and you have another highly stimulating and imaginative music promo from Dohrn, bringing avant garde&nbsp;ideas into the hiphop music video sphere.[imgtoken data:1][imgtoken data:2]
