Directing duo Uncanny direct a poignant performance promo for Loyle Carner.&nbsp;Exploring themes of identity, belonging and emotional connection, the one-take video&nbsp;opens on Carner's face and gradually pulls back to reveal a spectacular climactic shot of the artist rooted into the ground, whilst holding a kid of his own.&nbsp;Shot on an infrared camera, the distinctive aesthetic adds a fragile, ethereal look to the cinematography, and distorts the surroundings into an amalgam of fantasy and reality.&nbsp;

Raja Virdi directs a signature&nbsp;one-shot video for an unexpected collaboration between Sigrid and Bring Me The Horizon's Oli Sykes&nbsp;on Bad Life.&nbsp;Bringing both a sense of scale and simplicity to what is quite an intimate idea, Virdi uses a stripped-back set as an environment for the two artists to inhabit and make their own.&nbsp;The cinematic visual is packed full of gripping moments and emotional performances, which take viewers on an engrossing journey.[imgtoken data:1]<blockquote>I tried to treat the music video as a gig&nbsp;in a way, moving up and down the stage.</blockquote>Sigrid has commented that&nbsp;her and Sykes wanted the video to be simple enough to&nbsp;emphasise the song's lyrics. "It’s a song that I hope can offer some comfort for anyone who’s having a rough day, knowing that it will pass," she explains. "We collaborated with Raja, and we ended on this dark, slightly surreal world of Oli and I on each side of a worn-down house, not knowing what the other one is going through on the other side."Oli’s such a natural performer, so I knew he’d be great anyways. I tried to treat the music video as a gig, in a way, moving up and down the stage.”Virdi says that the concept of the one-shot film was to lean into those themes, of getting through the 'bad life' to reach the other side.&nbsp;[imgtoken data:2]<blockquote>Life can feel like a rollercoaster sometimes. I wanted to represent that feeling...</blockquote>"Life can certainly feel like a rollercoaster sometimes," he says.&nbsp;"I wanted to represent that feeling with Sigrid and Oli performing on a theatrical, otherworldly sunken set in the middle of a vast body of water, which suddenly transforms into a stormy and thunderous surrealistic visual with the eventuality of reaching resolution."&nbsp;"Working with Sigrid and Oli was a dream," Virdi continues. "They are both extraordinarily talented performers and were absolute troopers through a long shoot day.&nbsp;The crew were fantastic and took what was a very challenging one-shot, head on. Huge props to the crane, SFX and lighting teams for working in synergy so well with all the cues and my backbone 1st AD Chris Malin making it all run smooth. Plus my incredible post team of colourist Connor Coolbear (and the entire ETC team) and the hero Jakob Thorhallsson who smashed the tricky VFX.&nbsp;"Much love to my production family in (producer) Joseph, Noir, my brilliant rep Claire and commissioner Connie for getting this all over the line."

Anne Marie and Little Mix celebrate in style, in the epic video for Kiss My (Uh-Oh), directed by Hannah Lux Davis.&nbsp;There’s a lot of fun to be had, as the&nbsp;gang travel on a party plane, do shots, dress up in wedding attire and get serenaded by a group of strippers.&nbsp;Shot whilst Leigh-Anne and Perrie were pregnant, the group are split between the hotel room and the club, and it leads to a series of hilarious events.&nbsp;Bold, vibrant and action-packed,&nbsp;this has Hannah Lux Davis' glossy trademark style written all over it, and proves why she is one of the most in-demand music video directors of this generation.&nbsp;

Following last year's unlikely hit Mary Berry, Niko B is back with International Baby, and an energetic promo directed by Lucy Hickling (aka LOOSE).Shot at various locations in&nbsp;Milton Keynes - hometown of&nbsp;Thomas Austin, aka Niko B - the video features a string of tongue-in-cheek vignettes. It's absurd and nonsensical, but in the best way.&nbsp;It's a visual that matches the understated, random nature of Austin's music, with a focus on accessibility and playful lyricism over emotion or substance.&nbsp;

Meji Alabi has directed several videos for Burna Boy, including some proper blockbusters. But have any been as powerful as this?In visualising the sombre sentiments of the Stormzy-featured Real Life, Burna Boy gave Alabi licence to tell a story about the difficulties&nbsp;for Afro-Carribean people in London now. The result is a tour de force; a compelling mini-drama where the complexity of people's lives, navigating what is 'right' and 'wrong', is highlighted by the different routes taken by twin brothers, and a pointless murder.&nbsp;With a standout performances by Devontay and Dijon Graham as the brothers, Alabi&nbsp;creates a world on a West London estate populated with believable&nbsp;characters, sketched into life by his direction and Jaime Ackroyd's camera. Most painfully of all, Alabi stays firmly with the victim, as he dies alone. It is a departure for the director who has become one of the most adept at creating visually exciting pop videos, but a very confident and cinematic&nbsp;one.Alabi even pauses the drama to allow a spoken word section, written and delivered by George The Poet, to add weight to the whole piece, that already includes strong performance elements from Burna Boy and Stormzy. Robinson yearns for something more&nbsp;in Balan Evans's&nbsp;poignant&nbsp;video for Watching You.&nbsp;Focusing on the artist's unrequited love for one of her close friends, the visual features a montage of different clips from an adventure through the woods and country, intercut with a performance shot on 16mm.For the narrative we step right into the shoes of Robinson, the&nbsp;footage captured as if it was the artist herself filming, building an&nbsp;intimate and personal perspective. The use of 8mm and 16mm film stock creates a wistful and nostalgic aesthetic, perfectly complementing the emotionally affecting track and lyrics.&nbsp;The performances are strong throughout, with Robinson's heartbreaking solo setups stealing the show and anchoring the melancholic concept.&nbsp;

After his emotional video for <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2019/07/15/dermot-kennedy-outnumbered-luke-monaghan/61669" target="_blank">Dermot Kennedy's Outnumbered</a>,&nbsp;released during&nbsp;the summer, Luke Monaghan does a similarly powerful, beautifully crafted job for young London singer Hamzaa.Monaghan visualises her song Write It Down as the story of a subdued teenage girl (possibly a younger version of Hamzaa) who is wedded to the journal in which she pours her heart and soul. And that causes a tension within her family.In a world of softly-lit domestic interiors, and nighttime&nbsp;exteriors, shot by Harry Wheeler, Hamzaa herself is captured performing in commonplace London locations - a bus stop, a park - like an slightly removed observer of the unfolding narrative.And in the girl's story, there is eventually a break in the tension - perhaps unexpected, but&nbsp;an authentic expression of Hamzaa's own story.

Plus there's some very sloppy shaving that'll make you want to avert your eyes.
