Kasper Häggström's channels some 20th century greats - Franz Kafka,&nbsp;Samuel Beckett, Tony Hancock -&nbsp;in a masterclass of comic absurdity and stark relatability for Squid, graced by a wonderful performance by Charlotte Ritchie.To explain the storyline of the&nbsp;video for The Blades could be regarded as an unnecessary spoiler. But suffice to say that a&nbsp;credible conceit - when a boy unspools hundreds of tickets from a waiting room ticket dispenser and departs the scene with them in his backpack - is the jumping off point for a brilliant, entirely unspoken performance from Ritchie, caught in the Kafka-eque twisted logic of the institution in which she enters.As well as Häggström's superb direction of the actors - Tamsin Heatley is also marvellous&nbsp;as an indomitable&nbsp;bureaucrat&nbsp;- and deadpan visual comedy, the viewer is also challenged&nbsp;to find something darker lurking underneath. What is it about the entrance/exit&nbsp;to the building that keeps drawing Ritchie's and the camera's eye?&nbsp;And once she leaves her purgatory, is this the same world as before she went in?Kasper Häggström at his brilliant best. Indeed,&nbsp;even with the great work for Kelly Lee Owens, Radiohead and others, this actually may be his very best video.[imgtoken data:1][imgtoken data:2]

A man (Michael Sheen) and his futile efforts to make toast.Kasper Häggström has a brillant central concept in his latest video for Kelly Lee Owens: a moment when something that we can always rely upon happening, does not happen. Fortunately, he has one of the greatest&nbsp;screen actors&nbsp;to bring this concept to life.&nbsp;This is the third collaboration between Welsh DJ producer Kelly Lee Owens and the Norwegian director. The previous two have been marvellous (and include a UKMVA winner), but the combination of Häggström, Owens and another Welsh legend John Cale on Corner Of My Sky, and the brilliant Michael Sheen takes&nbsp;this to the next level of surreal joy.&nbsp;

Little Mix set off to Mars for some virtual R&amp;R,&nbsp;in Sophia Ray's video for Holiday.&nbsp;Heavily inspired by fantasy and surrealism, we see the girls perform in a series of computer generated environments, switching their look from real-life mermaids to giant goddesses on a space beach.Combining a VFX-heavy concept with a more commercial pop vibe, the video remains pure Little Mix - confident and sassy&nbsp;with an overarching sense of fun.&nbsp;Brendan Bennett's magical VFX work contributes to the overall aesthetic, adding a kaleidoscope of colour and textures to complement the dynamic performances.&nbsp;

Dave Bullivant, aka Bison,&nbsp;makes a haunting and peculiar greyscale video for Stevie Parker.Created using 3D mapping, but not building the base layer, the video is an ethereal performance from Parker where depth is implied through the fuzzy shadows that surround her. With one multicoloured&nbsp;character sprinting through the otherwise desaturated world, there&#39;s a sense of being followed or hunted (in line with the song&#39;s title), making for a tense edge to the blurred serenity of the clip&#39;s aesthetic.

Joshua Osborne's promo for Chase and Status is a moving and intimate portrait of a young traveller and his family.Osborne and the video's protagonist Gary Hearne first met in 2014 in a South London boxing gym, and Hearne and his family subsequently became part of a documentary series about modern culture in the traveling community. Three years on, with Hearne now 19 and starting a family of his own, sees Osborne revisit him in this documentary portrait film. Hearne cuddles with his newborn, boxes at the gym and hangs out with friends.He's candid and unguarded which combined with the beautifully composed, slow-moving camera movements adds an element of hyperrealism to the clip. It's a moving and rare portrait of an overlooked and often vilified community.

The symbolic nature of these characters is reinforced by bursts of animation and finally,the arrival of balloon sharks floating above the scene.

London indie rock outfit Little Cub have released this resonant and melancholic video by Lily Rose Thomas, offering up a&nbsp;glimpse into the life of a Londoner&nbsp;in her mid-twenties.&nbsp;It&#39;s&nbsp;a mature, beautifully shot portrait of London&#39;s twenty-something&nbsp;generation, an often vacuous and isolating&nbsp;experience where joy is chased through booze and drugs, kinship&nbsp;is fleeting&nbsp;and the&nbsp;disconnect between the expectation of&nbsp;what adulthood&nbsp;would be and the reality of it&nbsp;leads to a&nbsp;depressing&nbsp;dissonance.&nbsp;Post-industrial South London provides an excellent backdrop for this lonely urban tale, which we see repeating itself the next day in&nbsp;a&nbsp;continuum of unsatisfied&nbsp;emotional needs and occasionally hopeful text messages.

Tom Beard&#39;s video for Jamie T - his first for the London artist, having worked with him on several other kinds of visual projects previously&nbsp;&ndash;&nbsp;is disturbing and compelling, even though not that much happens. As a teenage girl starts her day, she preens in front of her cameraphone - and from that point everything she does, as she meets up with a boy and they set off on a day out,&nbsp;is caught on that camera.&nbsp;The relentlessness of the track - and lo-fi performance footage of Jamie T and band is cut into the narrative&nbsp;&ndash;&nbsp;encourages&nbsp;a sense of unease that works on at least a couple of levels. Quite apart from the threat of something bad about to break the&nbsp;mundanity in the video, it&#39;s that constant&nbsp;self-documentation - and the distancing effect it creates &ndash;&nbsp;that really strikes a chord. It&#39;s not what might happen, because&nbsp;it already has.&nbsp;

After their excellent videos for the likes of LarzRanda and <a href="http://www.promonews.tv/videos/2015/09/10/sheep-dog-wolf-breathe-thunderlips" target="_blank">Sheep, Dog &amp; Wolf</a>&nbsp;in New Zealand,&nbsp;Auckland-based directing duo&nbsp;Jordan Dodson&nbsp;and Sean Wallace - aka THUNDERLIPS &ndash; make an impressive first British video for the returning Two Door Cinema Club. It&nbsp;is&nbsp;a thing of grotesque, slightly&nbsp;bewildering beauty.In the the video for Are We Ready? (Wreck) video, the&nbsp;three members of&nbsp;TDCC&nbsp;are all noxiously cheesy spokesmen&nbsp;for a series of terrible ads for&nbsp;brands with names corresponding to the song&#39;s lyrics.&nbsp;Two of them have been luridly&nbsp;transformed,&nbsp;by Melissa Lackersteen&#39;s makeup job,&nbsp;into puffy-faced, surgery-enhanced&nbsp;versions of themselves. But there&#39;s a battle going on between this artificiality and reality underneath, expressed through lead singer Alex Trimble&#39;s angst and&nbsp;slowly disintegrating face.It&#39;s visually arresting and&nbsp;audacious, and after a couple of views (maybe trying to figure it out what&#39;s going on), another catchy TDCC song will be stuck in your brain.&nbsp;&nbsp;
