The Rolling Stones make a triumphant return to the world of music video with the help of Francois Rousselet&nbsp;in the&nbsp;high-octane Ride &#39;Em On Down.Starring Kristen Stewart as a lone driver on the beautiful, golden, yet eerily deserted streets of LA, she joyrides a Ford Mustang through a world that seems idyllic at first, until it presents us with bizarre hints that all is not as it seems. Is Stewart joyriding through a post-apocalyptic wasteland? Well that&#39;s up to you to figure out.The whole video was shot on 35mm by Newton Thomas Sigel, ASC. Famed for his work on films like Drive,&nbsp;which certainly came in useful here - creating a golden cinematic landscape with bursts of contrasting blue tearing through the scenery.

Jennifer Lopez sticks it to The Man - and in passing, the patriarchy&nbsp;- in her uproarious&nbsp;50&#39;s throwback video for Ain&#39;t Your Mama, directed&nbsp;by Cameron Duddy.Employing second-wave feminist movement&nbsp;character tropes, the singer plays&nbsp;the newsanchor, the housewife, the secretary and an industrial line worker -&nbsp;&nbsp;each&nbsp;of them fierce, each of them&nbsp;Mad as Hell.It all starts when newsanchor J-Lo - underappreciated and taken for granted by her partner&nbsp;- has had&nbsp;enough. On the air, she&nbsp;galvanises the masses with her slogan &#39;I ain&#39;t your mama&#39;&nbsp;and inspiring&nbsp;all the housewives and working women&nbsp;to rise up, &nbsp;give &#39;em hell,&nbsp;organise through social media&nbsp;- and dance.The result is pretty much everything her legion of fans could want from J-Lo production: a&nbsp;stomping beat, plenty of Mad Men and Working Girl costumes, and boots so high they lock into her belt!

Florence has come out the other side of the wreckage. For the&nbsp;final chapter of The Odyssey, the film project created to&nbsp;accompany her album How Big How Blue How Beautiful&nbsp;- and also <a href="http://florenceandthemachine.net/" target="_blank">now available to view in full</a>&nbsp;- Florence and Vincent Haycock have&nbsp;come up with a forward-looking&nbsp;finale.The chapter to accompany Third Eye&nbsp;begins&nbsp;on an image of Florence being carried away from fiery rubble, and this revisits many of the themes from the previous chapters one last&nbsp;time. But Florence is now untethered to the demons that had followed her up till now.&nbsp;The video is just a great closing statement -&nbsp;life-affirming and filled with cheer. It&nbsp;takes place at&nbsp;nighttime&nbsp;on the street&nbsp;in front of a dazzling&nbsp;concert hall,&nbsp;where we follow Florence down&nbsp;into the depths of the&nbsp;basement.&nbsp;There,&nbsp;she&nbsp;gets swarmed by dancers&nbsp;once again, in a scene that&nbsp;is highly reminiscent of What Kind Of Man and Delilah.&nbsp;But quickly the tone quickly turns lively and reverent, and then poignant when&nbsp;Florence is led by a musician&nbsp;back onto the&nbsp;stage.

So entrusting the video for The Giver to Surrender Monkeys, a directing duo with a talent for humour, was a smart move. And their Giver is none other than Jesus Christ - who emerges from the surf at Venice Beach, and turns out to be a very Californian sort of Messiah.&nbsp;Brash and&nbsp;over-confident, this guy is bent, even Hell-bent, on making some miracles happen, whether people like it or not. And all he does is more harm than good. There&#39;s certainly the required&nbsp;Duke Dumont rate of visual gags&nbsp;- and a deeper message too...?

The surprise is to see the band actually performing in one of their videos &ndash; a first, perhaps? But this is also much more than simply a performance. Thomas creates extraordinary images that suggest moments from ancient myths, of heroes battling with the elements, and a distinctive use of colour.
