Charlie Robins directs a hypnotic promo for The Comet Is Coming.&nbsp;Unabashedly wild and atmospheric, the visual sees a small group of people driven insane by an enigmatic force, visualised in the form of a circle.&nbsp;Kept purposefully vague, Robins combines live action with elements of animation, demanding&nbsp;viewers to come to their own conclusion as to what's happening. "I had a great conversation with the band about the new album called Hyper Dimensional Expansion Beam. That name was enough of a jumping off point, and I just threw a load of crazy shit at it. It felt right to be weird and post-apocalyptic but also disorientating and fucked up. I wanted to make people feel a bit sick in all honesty. "The music is so crazy yet intricately put together, there is something beautifully chaotic about it which fit very well with some post and camera techniques I’ve been developing for a while."I worked very closely with the immense team at Agile (particularly the post guys!) to make this film happen. A young woman pours the ashes of&nbsp;her beloved late mother into her running shoes and leaves her suburban home - wielding a pole vaulter's pole - in a race against time...Hard Drive Gold, the latest release ahead of alt-J's fourth album The Dream (out on Feb 11th)&nbsp;has a video that follows in the tradition of the band's consistently excellent track record in visuals - particularly those that put a different spin on dramatic suspense. In this case, it comes from a new directing duo, consisting of&nbsp;an alt-J bandmember and his partner: Newman-Wallace are the band's singer and guitarist&nbsp;Joe Newman, and&nbsp;choreographer Darcy Wallace.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;We follow the young woman - played by Ellie McCartney - as she drags the pole from her garage, and then pounds through nearly empty suburban streets with it, as if she is on the longest-ever pole vaulter's run-up. This striking image is made even more mysterious by the&nbsp;context - the imminence of a nuclear attack and, as a result, the mostly panic-stricken behaviour of her neighbours.[imgtoken data:1]Finally she reaches her destination - but can she complete her leap before the missiles strike?Newman-Wallace's highly cinematic directing debut was shot by Krzysztof Trojnar, and executive produced by Andrew Law, longtime commissioner of alt-J's videos, now head of music and special projects at&nbsp;Biscuit Filmworks."It was a great privilege to work with Joe and Darcy on their debut piece of filmmaking,which I think is a brilliant music video that stands tall next to the rest of the band's enviable canon of work," says Law. YUNGBLUD is going&nbsp;through some hard times in his video for God Save Me But Don't Drown Me Out - until an old friend helps him relight the fire within.Directing his own video for the first time - in collaboration with Gavin Gottlich - YUNGBLUD (aka Dom Harrison) dramatises&nbsp;his own mental health problems, and sense of alienation from his conventional English upbringing in some effective set pieces before the song, and the fun starts. He's joined by a giant teddy bear who becomes the buddy he desperately needs. And this bear definitely has his back.&nbsp;&nbsp;It's a fun ride, intercut with a charismatic performance, in which YUNGBLUD eventually cuts loose in characteristic fashion. That&nbsp;makes this a must for his mascara-wearing massive.

Bring Me The Horizon frontman Oli Sykes reanimates the Japanese monster movie genre&nbsp;in his thoroughly entertaining video for Obey - co-starring fellow Brit rocker Yungblud.&nbsp;Taking inspiration from Mecha - giant robots controlled by humans, popularised in Japanese anime and concepts such as&nbsp;Power Rangers&nbsp;and&nbsp;Transformers - the video pits Sykes' robot, towering over the city below, against Yungblud's punkier, spikier humanoid nemesis. All hell ensues when they confront each other - building to a disarming (and hilarious) final twist.[imgtoken data:1]With the spot-on production design by Dale Oliver Slater,&nbsp;and sterling work on robot wardrobe and makeup by Natasha Lawes,&nbsp;DoP&nbsp;Dan Stafford-Clark pays homage to the Japanese source material (and possibly Beastie Boys' Intergalactic too) while adding a contemporary flair of his own.Then VFX work at Creep Post put excellent finishing touches to Sykes' vision. Talking about the meaning behind the video and the track, he says: "We consider ourselves free but only because the chains are invisible, and we are controlled in ways we don't even want to think about. They tell us how to live with a smile on their face - like shit ain't fucked up, inform us of tragic statistics like its nothing… it’s a weird world.[imgtoken data:2]"2020 is the year where we’re all being challenged by a deep and dark reality, but it’s also feeling like a time of hope and positivity. Our generation is waking up, realising what’s being conveyed, what we’re being sheltered from, and with that comes empowerment. We are being controlled in ways we don’t even want to think about, but with knowledge comes strength, and choices.. and the music video represents all of that."I wanted to add a real sense of nostalgia to the music video also to deliver such heavy lyrical content as a reminder of simpler times, and I’ve always been a huge fan of anime such as Neon Genesis Evangelion, so creating a blend of that, Power rangers and Godzilla was a super fun and creative shoot."

Lola Young teams up with director duo The Rest for the second time, in the hypnotic video for Pick Me Up.&nbsp;Inside a dimly-lit bedroom full of rich textures and luxury furnishings, Young peels away her outer layers, settling into a series of conceptual performance setups.&nbsp;The visual is a shift in tone from the affecting narrative of the previous video <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2019/12/06/lola-young-blind-love-rest/62255">Blind Love</a>, and it highlights another side of the exciting young artist. But another kind of fierce emotion is on show, this time with a physical manifestation.Clothes fly from the air, falling into the shadows as Young's eyes are fixed on the camera. The hypnotic performance is punctuated by whip pans and unusual textures, which DoP Sam&nbsp;Meyer&nbsp;utilises to great effect."There's&nbsp;a&nbsp;running theme&nbsp;and a&nbsp;series of poltergeist-like moments that happen throughout the video which are inspired by the last third of the song which has&nbsp;elements that feel a little 'spooky'," says The Rest's Alex Motlhabane. "We wanted to match that trajectory and have things go a bit off-kilter and hallucinatory towards the end."

Orelsan gets introspective in&nbsp;Fantômes, directed by Luke Monaghan.&nbsp;Dark and stylish, the video centres around a group of residents all staring up at an accommodation block, where Orelsan is confined to his room as he performs. Lyrically dealing with friends and acquaintances who have become ghosts in his life, the haunting vibe stretches to the outdoors, where he appears with a group of silhouettes who back up his frenetic performance.&nbsp;Interesting aesthetically, the visual is a great match to the track and does well in representing the sombre tone of the new album.&nbsp;
