Isaac Ravishankara finds a highly original way to combine a storyline with music performance - inventively merging the two parts together in every shot - in his lovely video for&nbsp;George Ezra's Green Green Grass.Ravinshankara nods to a few screen classics and gives it a nice modern twist, with a diner-robbing loved-up couple also being females of a certain age. Meanwhile, George smoothly observes everything, telling the story of the 'young lovers' with his trusty guitar, all the way from the diner to getaway vehicle to the field where the pair bury their ill-gotten loot.&nbsp;The device of an on-screen musical narrator device is not remotely new, but Ravishankara takes it too a new level here, with a sense of fun that is entirely suitable to the George Ezra persona and musical oeuvre.Theoretically there is competition in every shot between the narrative and the performance. In fact, they work seamlessly together, due to the clever construction of the shots and also some terrific performances - from&nbsp;Amy Stoch and Michele Matheson as the happy criminals, and Ezra too.&nbsp;&nbsp;And it looks absolutely marvellous. DoP Logan Triplett filmed this on 2-perf 35 mm 200T 5213 film stock, so it always will.[imgtoken data:1]<blockquote>To pull this off turned out to be much harder than we thought.</blockquote>"The concept that came to mind when I first heard Green Green Grass was a simple narrative - two not-so-young lovers rob a diner, joyride out of town, and bury the money with the rest of their retirement fund out in the middle of nowhere then dance with joy. Pulp Fiction meets Thelma and Louise meets Harold and Maude," says Isaac Ravishankara."However, we really wanted to anchor the video on a unique and dynamic performance from George. I really loathe simply intercutting a performance with a narrative. So we proposed an experiment - what if George is performing WITHIN every shot of the narrative? What would that feel like?&nbsp;"To pull this off turned out to be much harder than we thought. Working with the wonderful DoP Logan Triplett, and our brilliant choreographers Jillian Meyers and Dana Wilson, we had to pre-visualize the video in advance to determine which shots in the narrative would correspond to which lines of performance. Then on the day, the concept was really brought to life by our two 'young lovers' - Amy Stoch and Michele Matheson - and obviously George Ezra as well!"In the end, I think it's really fun to be able to watch the video with a different focus each time, and I'm really excited by how the whole "experiment" turned out."&nbsp;&nbsp;

Henry Scholfield directs a hypnotic, VFX-heavy extravaganza for Ed Sheeran featuring Lil Baby.&nbsp;The video for 2step shows Sheeran walking down an empty street in Kyiv, as the surrounding characters and environment&nbsp;start to vanish into thin air. This eventually builds&nbsp;to a sensational dance set-piece, and a mind-bending trip through warped cityscapes and slick choreography - which Sheeran enthusiastically dives into himself&nbsp;too, together with co-star Lil Baby.&nbsp;The project&nbsp;opens with a title card with a message from Ed Sheeran explaining that the video was shot in Kyiv before the Russian invasion&nbsp;of Ukraine two months ago, and that profits from the video streaming are going directly to DEC's Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal.&nbsp;

Henry Scholfield reunites with&nbsp;Belgian superstar Stromae for the video for Fils De Joie - the first since a series of great collaborations&nbsp;a few years ago -&nbsp;and it's a jawdropping experience.&nbsp;&nbsp; The concept takes place in an imaginary country, and showcases the state funeral of a national hero - a courtesan - with Stromae saluting the regiments and leading the ceremony.[imgtoken data:1]'Fils de Joie'&nbsp;(which translates as 'Sons of Joy') is&nbsp;the fourth track on Stromae's new album Multitude, and deals with the subject of prostitution through the prism of various characters. For its three verses, Stromae first takes the point of view of a client, then that of a manager of prostitution networks and finally that of a policeman, rather saddened by the situation. In the chorus, the Belgian puts himself in the shoes of a child of a prostitute supporting his mother and pleading for greater recognition and visibility.Scholfield gives this a remarkable interpretation with a grand spectacle, through a huge cast of dancers, choreographed displays of miliartry precision, captured in a variety of ways including&nbsp;aerial shots. It's&nbsp;seamlessly realised with polished visual effects, whilst the unique styling feels inspired and original - after all, creating uniforms for several distinct,&nbsp;imaginary groups is no mean feat.[imgtoken data:2]In fact, the grand scale of the project&nbsp;is almost overwhelming - and also poignant, as this video also skewers the martial and monumental nature of Soviet or North Korean-style ceremonials.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Using the themes of the track as a launchpad for something more unexpected, Scholfield infuses the project with his trademark high-concept sensibilities, and Stromae brings his A-game in the dramatic performance sections. Their previous collaborations almost a decade ago, for the likes of&nbsp;<a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2013/12/20/stromae-tous-les-memes-henry-scholfield/23433" target="_blank">Tous Les Memes</a>, demonstrated that they could make wonderfully imaginative mini-musicals.&nbsp;This takes things to another level.[imgtoken data:3]&nbsp;

Loski and Stormzy are men on a mission - to deliver satisfaction to all sorts of women - in Joao Retorta's thoroughly enjoyable video for Flavour.They play a couple of delivery men, making a number of drop offs around London to supply their special product. What is it? Well, the clue is very much in the songtitle.It's a winning concept, which plays to the strengths and the chemistry of Loski and Stormzy, and provides a series of engaging episodes as they service an&nbsp;increasingly upscale clientele.&nbsp;DoP&nbsp;Harry Wheeler experiments with vibrant lighting and buoyant camerawork to match the steady flow of the track, allowing the charming performances to take focus. And it's a confident step by Joao Retorta into building a narrative around a pair of charismatic artists.&nbsp;

Oscar Hudson is back, directing&nbsp;a&nbsp;fever dream wrapped in a music video for Slowthai.&nbsp;The concept for Feel Away opens&nbsp;rather innocently... Slowthai - real name Tyron Frampton - is with his girlfriend (played by Guindilla Ontanaya) at a maternity ward, shot through her first person perspective.Reality soon takes&nbsp;a distorted plunge into more surreal territory, as the perspective switches&nbsp;and it's Frampton who now has a baby growing inside of him. Cascading into multiple nightmare scenarios, his love interest falls in love with a doctor, his limbs turn into cake and the baby lipsyncs the lyrics via&nbsp;the ultrasound screen.&nbsp;Truly weird and wonderful, the video takes a sharp turn into the uncanny valley and doesn't let up until the final, haunting frame. The use of first person perspective drops the viewer right into the middle of this world, creating an erratic and claustrophobic environment with no way out.&nbsp;

Paul Mescal makes an emotional call to his girlfriend at the beginning of the video for The Rolling Stones' Scarlet, directed by Chris Barrett and Luke Taylor - aka Us.&nbsp;So far, so Normal People.&nbsp;But then we notice that Mescal is living in the lap of luxury. In fact he has the run of Claridge's Hotel, no less.&nbsp;After leaving a half-drunken love note to his girlfriend, Mescal&nbsp;(the sensitive Connell&nbsp;in TV hit&nbsp;Normal People) spins this previously unreleased track from The Stones' early '70s&nbsp;album&nbsp;Goat's Head Soup,&nbsp;proceeds to drink his body weight in whiskey, dance cheesily in the mirror, have an emotional breakdown and trash the hotel room.&nbsp;And then he heads down to the hotel lobby - which is even grander than the one in that other famous deserted hotel video, Weapon Of Choice.&nbsp;The video was made under social distancing guidelines, and clearly it could not have happened at any other time - and probably for no other band in the world. It's certainly a treat for the growing legion of the Mescal fans - and for fans of Barrett and Taylor too.

The result is a remarkable, spectacular, screwball epic, Sam Pilling's most ambitious video to date.At first this is very much like the wonderful Apollo 11 movie - a tapestry of stock footage of the era. Eden is vaporwave-dreaming in Projector, the latest video for the artist directed by Zhang + Knight.&nbsp;Opening in a beautiful, minimalist apartment, a slow camera movement reveals the artist sitting on a bed, washed in a rainbow of warm light. Jumping up&nbsp;and into the next room, the space is a maze of pastel colour, open plan architecture and vaporwave inspired design.As he leaves the building, the surreal sky envelopes Eden, encouraging him to move in a trance-like state, exploring the limitations of the environment and his own body.&nbsp;The space feels very much alive and almost like a character in itself, and the laser sharp focus on design and aesthetic is a perfect pairing to the track. Soft and dreamy, Zhang + Knight have created a universe that is calm and meditative, and Eden is a worthy inhabitant of that space.&nbsp;
