Olly Murs shows further signs of being the TV talent show contestant who's comfortable with experimenting with his pop star image in Corin Hardy's video for Busy.
Corin gives Olly the potentially troublesome role of a guy who doesn't go out and get a girlfriend - he makes her out of papier-mâché. He starts getting his share of funny looks from the neighbours - but its actually rather sweet. And Olly has the last laugh.

"For the fourth single they wanted to place Olly in a different position to the glossier X-Factor videos he'd had previously," says Corin. "I enjoyed the challenge of thinking of a way of doing a sweet and colourful piece to suit Busy while also bending the rules of your usual pop star video. 
"I'd seen the brilliant Lars &amp; The Real Girl as well as being a massive fan of American indie films (Wes Anderson's, etc...). I thought it would suit the tone of the video to mimic that strongly composed visual style mixed with quirky humour and emotion often found in these movies, and also to give Olly his own starring role. I thought it was best if Olly actually created his 'perfect girl' by his own arty hands and it wasn't long before he was playing around with newspaper and wallpaper paste, really getting into character!
"We shot over two intense days, keeping an intimate crew - twenty of us all packed in the same room. Olly really embraced the spirit of what we were going for and kept his energy up throughout to pull of the eccentric role in which he had to genuinely fall in love with a life-size papier-mache girl."

Shot at Dorney Rowing Lake near Eton back in July, Take That row back into action with this superb Mat Whitecross-directed promo for big &#39;welcome back Robbie we missed you&#39; single The Flood.&quot;The original idea for the video came from the band - they wanted to do &#39;Chariots of Fire meets Forrest Gump&#39;, a timeless rowing race,&quot; explains Whitecross. &quot;It needed to feel like an event - something epic to bring the band back together again after all these years.&quot;We got in touch with a National Rowing Team Trainer, and he said to get the band rowing even at a basic level he&#39;d need to work with them for 3 months solid. We told him we had 2 hours the night before the shoot. Within seconds, one of the band had capsized in the lake and we all started freaking out. But the boys were troopers - they threw themselves into the shoot without any complaints. I knew they had a really good reputation, but they were so patient and lovely they made a tricky shoot a real joy.&quot;Logistically it was all a bit of a nightmare. My producer Mark lost weeks of sleep trying to get permission and insurance for one of the biggest UK bands to row past the Houses of Parliament at the crack of dawn, tailed by a low-flying helicopter with 2 safety boats in tow. But the band were adamant they wanted to do it for real.&quot;I&#39;m so glad they pushed for it. It&#39;s always better than trying to fake it in post. Every day brought another disaster - we ended up abandoning the final part of the shoot after the boat hit a rock and sank. If we&#39;d known how difficult it would be to shoot on water, I think we&#39;d have ended up doing the whole thing in the studio...&quot;

Take That - The Flood

Nominated for the Mercury Music Prize 2010 yesterday for their Only Revolutions album, Biffy Clyro team up with Corin Hardy for fifth single and towering ballad God And Satan. 
The adventurous promo, beautifully lensed by Ed Wild, was shot just outside the village of Chiddingly in Sussex and sees the band getting into the spirit of things - donning facepaint, dressing up and immersing themselves neck-deep in a lake...

Biffy Clyro’s God And Satan by Corin Hardy

A clay, stop-animated Paolo Nutini is brilliantly integrated into the real world in Corin Hardy's hugely entertaining, beautifully-made new video for Paolo, created with the help of animators who worked on Fantastic Mr Fox. 
Big trouble is just around the corner for our malleable chap, on account of his Stone Age attitude towards the girls in the TV studio. But he ends up like putty in their hands...

"My aim with this video was to set up a situation where a clay Paolo would live in a real world and behave just like a real person. Once the viewer has accepted that, I then wanted to break the rules I had devised for myself and see what goes on when a clay Paolo just pushes it a bit too far. 
"I got very lucky with the animators. Fantastic Mr Fox had just wrapped and the lead animator Mark Waring, and Andy Gent - who built all the puppets for the film - were both available and agreed to do the video. 
"It was shot in a TV studio previously graced by Gloria Hunniford' chat show, and somehow this felt strangely fitting. We shot each take in two versions, one with a stand-in Paolo dancer and then one without. The animation was matched to the stand-in wherever possible and this helped us get the very real movement into the clay Paolo that I wanted. 
"The animation schedule was brutal. We had three weeks to animate and I pretty much moved into Clapham Rd Studios. Due to the animation needing to be composited into live action, it had to be 25 frames a second which gives the movement a beautiful rich feel, but is really tough work and there are no short cuts. 
"The post happened as we went along, and it was inspiring to see the shots come back 24 hours later bedded into the film and actually see the laborious work coming to life."

Paolo Nutini’s Pencil Full Of Lead by Corin Hardy

Faux Tales' first foray into the pop video world results in a dark, sexy, filmic fantasy for Mr Andre - his first release since his whirlwind life with Katie Price came to a sticky end. They had this to say about the shoot: "This is very much inspired by the fashion photography we thrive on. We're both MTV generation babies so this was a perfect video to play on Andre's sex symbol status by referencing all those slick and glossy Duran Duran videos we grew up on in the look of our video - especially the work of Russell Mulcahy".

Black Kids star in their very own '80s cartoon, with fast car chases, spaceships, and a big dog playing bass guitar.
Basically Joe + Rollo have thrown the kitchen sink at this: lots of ideas, and it's impressively done.
"The promo is a trippy, nostalgic re-enactment of those emotionally charged 80s cartoon titles that occupy a special place in every young adult's heart," says Rollo. They filmed and animated the whole thing at INTRO.

It's the hitherto untold story of the big-in-the-late-Eighties Running Man dance move, that apparently took Cardiff by storm back in the day. 
Eran Creevy recreates the atmosphere, without the fag smoke, and the guy in the way cool red satin bomber jacket knows how to bust a move alright.
Looks a bit tiring to me, like.
