Following up the nihilistic violence of <a href="http://www.promonews.tv/videos/2015/02/26/drenge-we-can-do-what-we-want-ed-lovelace" target="_blank">We Can Do What We Want</a>, Ed Lovelace of D.A.R.Y.L&nbsp;is back with Drenge for Running Wild. And this video investigates the world the Loveless brothers left behind in rural Derbyshire&nbsp;when they became a globetrotting rock band.It&#39;s a short doc about Derbyshire farming family The Richardsons, an unvarnished portrait of their generations-long struggle on the land. And as animals are herded into barns to experience an unseen fate,&nbsp;there&#39;s an underlying theme of everyday&nbsp;brutality.Beautifully photographed by Patrick Meller - shooting on&nbsp;35mm anamorphic,&nbsp;in keeping with the organic aesthetic of the video&rsquo;s narrative &ndash;&nbsp;Ed Lovelace was inspired by the&nbsp;the rural way of life depicted in Gideon Kopperls&#39;&nbsp;Sleep Furiously,&nbsp;Michelangelo Frammartino&#39;s&nbsp;Le Quattro Volte&nbsp;and Ermanno Olmi&#39;s&nbsp;The Tree of Wooden Clogs.&nbsp;And he&nbsp;also draws on the experience of making&nbsp;critically acclaimed documentaries with his&nbsp;D.A.R.Y.L&nbsp;partner James Hall, including&nbsp;Werewolves Across America, Katy Perry&rsquo;s&nbsp;Part of Me&nbsp;and most recently,&nbsp;The Possibilities Are Endless, about Edwyn Collins.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Ed Lovelace and the Loveless brothers of Drenge team up to revive&nbsp;the dread spirit of&nbsp;A Clockwork Orange&nbsp;for the video for We Can Do What We Want, as a gang of latterday white jumper-wearing&nbsp;droogs - led by&nbsp;Robert Emms (Warhorse, Kick Ass 2) &ndash;&nbsp;cause mayhem and terror&nbsp;around contemporary Sheffield.&nbsp;Filmed on 16mm by DoP Patrick Meller, this study of mindless violence disrupting normal society - without fear of retribution - is chilling, compelling visual juxtaposition to the lyrics of the song.Its also a return to music video, and a rare outing as a solo director, by Ed Lovelace. With his directing partner James Hall, as D.A.R.Y.L., they have been busy making the acclaimed documentaries&nbsp;Werewolves Across America, Katy Perry&rsquo;s Part of Me, and most recently The Possibilities Are Endless starring Edwyn Collins.

It was mostly shot in Sussex countryside - the girls come from a local school - and Ben and company have captured the lovely sense of a timeless English summer's day (courtesy of a 5D), while the performance element was shot in Edinburgh. 
Ben has previously directed atmospheric videos infused with nature for Dorias Baracca and Air Formation (both also on the Club AC30 label) but this is his best yet.
