Clemens Habicht has channelled&nbsp;the classic experimental animatoin of Len Lye and Norman McLaren in this lovely animated video for Australian contemporary musician Laurence Pike.A longtime collaborator of Pike (who used to be a member of post-rock outfit PVT), Habicht has created a graphic representation of Pike&#39;s Drum Chant, and the combination of mesmerising percussion with electronica. Every beat becomes a mark on the screen, the changing soundscape visualised as changing colours.&nbsp;&quot;Watching Laurence perform I found myself focusing on the round white mallet ends as if they were objects all of their own, separated from their sticks they became bouncing balls feverishly racing over the drums in a frenzy made all the more astonishing by their impossible precision at such speed.&quot;

The Presets&rsquo; Fall has presented Clemens Habicht with the opportunity to put the band&rsquo;s Julian Hamilton and Kim Moyes through the ultimate physical drop &ndash; a skydive thousands of feet above the Spanish Costa Brava, out of skydiving hub Empuriabrava.The resulting video is pure skydive thrills &ndash; and, okay, that isn&rsquo;t really Julian and Kim. The skydivers are Gregory Crozier and Karine Joly, who are wearing masks of the Presets duo. The band had 3D scans made for their album cover, and Clemens and his team used the scans to print 3D masks. From these, they made silicon masks which the divers wore&hellip;

For his beautifully atmospheric promo to Bloc Party's Truth and with a brief to create 'a portrait of the band with no traditional performance involved', director Clemens Habicht places the band in a bleak English field, enveloped in a dense multi-coloured fog. 

Habicht - who lives and works between Paris and London - takes his cue from the heavy staccato'd guitar and applies a snappy start-stop stutter edit to add movement in a very effective way - a form of video scratching if you will.

Bloc Party 'Truth' by Clemens Habicht

Those funky St. Albans lads Friendly Fires are back with the funked-up Skeleton Boy, and a new video by Clemens Habicht, who recently created some splendid <a href="http://www.nexusproductions.com/938/clinic_montage.mov">live visuals for Clinic</a>.
Those visuals capture various strange objects, usually in motion, in a kind of cool portraiture - and one of the materials Clemens used in his Clinic film plays a major part in this video: tiny polystyrene balls.
Rather bravely, the band are performing wearing black suits with only their faces visible. The balls, in a wind-machine assisted ball-storm, then give them stick-man bodies, followed by, appropriately, full skeletons. They start looking like motion-capture characters, but it's all done in-camera.
"Taking out all the excess information and concentrating on their movement through this pseudo-motion control, meant we could focus on the performance dynamic of the band, especially lead singer Ed's great dance moves," says Clemens.
