Kimberly Stuckwisch directs this breakneck video for Samm Henshaw, a criminal romance with a genre-bending twist.Two loved-up outlaws hit the road with a hostage, Samm Henshaw, in tow. Without sparing a thought for the performer bundled in the boot of their car, they conduct their spirited romance in hideouts along the open road. You know this story, but you’ve never seen it like this.&nbsp;Producer-turned-director Kimberly Stuckwisch plays a neat trick throughout the video. She gives you a scenario you understand, then pulls the rug out from under it. You think you’re watching a breezy roadside romance. Then, suddenly, you’re in the dark comedic mode of Tarantino. Just when you’ve accepted this new scenario, the fabric of this world begins to tear apart again and again.This puzzling Chinese box structure is even more impressive when you consider that these seemingly disparate scenarios all connect back to the conceit of Henshaw’s song "Set our eyes west /&nbsp;chase the sunset … You're the whole world and the world is mine.”The World is Mine picked up a Gold at Kinsale, and it’s easy to see why. Henshaw is a reliably magnetic performer. We last saw him <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2019/02/07/samm-henshaw-ft-earthgang-church-chris-muir-carlos-lopez-estrada/57242">skating down the road on a hovering cloud</a>, and it’s reassuring to know he can give an equally compelling performance handcuffed to a pipe in a cupboard. Drew Bienemann’s camera swoops and hovers loosely around the performers, and compounded by Nour Oubeid’s lightning speed edit, this gives the video the dangerous energy of a whirlwind romance. Finally, the VFX, by Vitaly Verlov, are a triumph.

Tomás Whitmore helms a creative tour de force in this timely video for The Hamilton Mixtape, featuring performances by K&#39;naan, Snow Tha Product, Riz Ahmed and&nbsp;Residente.Set entirely in train cars, this cinematic performance video uses the locations as a visual metaphor for the immigrant experience. Cramped living spaces, manual labour, border crossings and constant movement all factor heavily in this video. Traveling seamlessly through these socially conscious vignettes is akin to the dystopian futuristic film&nbsp;Snowpiercer&nbsp;except that this harrowing struggle is very much real and not just confined to the realms of Hollywood high concept.That may not be an accidental comparison either, being that Hamilton star Daveed Diggs (who makes an appearance at the end of this video) is slated to star in the TV adaptation of Snowpiercer. An incredible effort from a team that packs consistent punches both in front of and behind the camera.

He&#39;s been prolific recently, including his video for gravity-defying <a href="http://www.promonews.tv/videos/2016/06/15/m%C3%B8-final-song-mister-whitmore" target="_blank">MØ&#39;s Final Song</a>. Now Tomas (aka Mister) Whitmore has directed a corker&nbsp;for Dillon Francis&#39;s Candy. It&#39;s minimal and&nbsp;colourful, and most importantly it features a brilliant contemporary&nbsp;pas de deux by the dancers Ryan Spencer and Denna Thomsen.Choreographed by&nbsp;Nina McNeely, this stunning routine&nbsp;from Spencer and longtime Ryan Heffington associate Thomsen (her previous work includes&nbsp;partnering&nbsp;Shai LeBeouf in the video for <a href="http://www.promonews.tv/videos/2012/06/19/sigur-ros-%E2%80%98fjogur-piano%E2%80%99-alma-har%E2%80%99el" target="_blank">Sigur Ros&#39;s Fjogur Piano</a>)&nbsp;is expressive, provocative, funny, and, well, quite weird.It&#39;s&nbsp;riveting, and climaxes with&nbsp;a kooky head-body&nbsp;swap, which sort of reflects Thomsen&#39;s dominance.&nbsp;And Mister Whitmore, excelling in a different visual style,&nbsp;shows he is versatile as well as prolific.

James Lees delivers a masterful, heartbreaking&nbsp;bait-and-switch narrative for Lil Dicky&#39;s Molly. It&nbsp;centres around the rapper and comedian playing&nbsp;a man apparently&nbsp;getting ready on the morning of his wedding with his buddies - and then its&nbsp;revealed that the love of LD&#39;s life is marrying somebody else. He&#39;s just one of the guests.&nbsp;The moment it all comes crashing down, and the bride walks right past Lil Dicky&nbsp;is enhanced with some great framing and angle-trickery. It&#39;s a crushing moment - but from then on, we just can&#39;t help enjoying his excruciating pain. He&#39;s a bystander at an increasingly raucous party (and a cavalcade of typically strange wedding guests) and there&#39;s a great heap of comedic moments as he tries to put a brave face on it all.Plus, Brendon Urie (of Panic! At The Disco) shows up as the&nbsp;wedding singer, which adds a nice balance of outpoured emotion and joy, to the strange empty feeling you might otherwise get when relating to this little narrative.

A momentous wait demands a momentous video. It&#39;s been 16 years since the last time The Avalanches released new music. Now its finally arrived, it was beholden on Fleur Fortune&nbsp;(from Fleur &amp; Manu)&nbsp;to produce something substantial for the first video. And Fleur has&nbsp;certainly delivered.&nbsp;The video for Frankie Sinatra&nbsp;takes a Harmony Korine-esque depiction of the Southern United States as a carnival of strange, and then runs with it at full speed towards full-on surrealism.Everyone here sips a drink that glows as if irradiated - the effects of which blur the lines of perception. Dogs operate heavy machinery, food comes to life and fishermen find themselves in a Vietnam War flashback, complete with assault weapon/brass instrument hybrids.It&#39;s a rich tapestry of great looking, funny scenes, and a seemingly massive logistical undertaking. Everything down to the casting has been executed meticulously. A music video worthy of the band who brought us the crazy genius of&nbsp;<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U8BWBn26bX0" target="_blank">Frontier Psychiatrist</a>.

Disorientated time-traveller Benjamin Booker finds himself in the deep south during segregation-era America, in this short film featuring his songs Slow Coming&nbsp;and Wicked Waters,&nbsp;directed by&nbsp;James Lees.&nbsp;The piece packs a real punch&nbsp;through its depiction of the rampant police brutality and pervasive racism that was characteristic of the&nbsp;time.&nbsp;Masterfully crafted, the video employs each song as a backdrop&nbsp;to heighten the dramatic tension at different points&nbsp;in the narration. The opening sequence for Slow Coming, has Booker discovering and eventually becoming tangled up in a scene involving the death of a little girl at the hands of the police.&nbsp;A gap then follows between songs which delivers the full,&nbsp;silent blow of Booker&#39;s&nbsp;disbelief before his shock turns to&nbsp;anger for Wicked Waters.James Lees has outdone himself with this powerful, well-crafted work using the past to focus on the&nbsp;pressing&nbsp;issues facing America today.&nbsp;
