Ed Sheeran is at one with the elements,&nbsp;in Mia Barne's touching&nbsp;promo for Boat.&nbsp;We see Sheeran performing in the middle of the sea, battling a tirade of incoming waves as he works to keep his footing.Before long, various objects get caught up in the water, including broken records, teddy bears and stationery.&nbsp;The cinematography is surprisingly intimate and conversational throughout - with Sheeran's eyeline always down the lens and the camera up close and personal, it feels as if he is pouring his heart out to a friend, and it makes for a beautiful visual.&nbsp;It's the perfect track for a stripped back yet perfectly executed promo, and Barnes brings it to life with an emotional yet still playful concept.&nbsp;

Mia Barnes directs a heartfelt promo for Ed Sheeran's Eyes Closed - the first release from forthcoming album Subtract.&nbsp;Hanging out at a bar with only a few strangers for company, the video opens with Ed drinking away his sorrows, attempting to bury an unhappiness lurking within him.&nbsp;Before long, he begins to see a giant, fuzzy blue monster - a representation of the sadness that he carries around with him. And it starts to shadow&nbsp;him everywhere he goes.&nbsp;[imgtoken data:1]The portrayal of such emotions as a rather loveable furry creature perhaps suggests&nbsp;that when you hold&nbsp;onto negative emotions for so long, they almost become comfortable and familiar, adding a layer of meaning to the poignant visual. But of course it's also a very astute way of portraying a negative emotion within the recognisable Sheeran universe.It's a true feat of visual effects,&nbsp;not only with the main monster design but for&nbsp;several other characters with their own emotional creatures, and Ed's stirring performance is the glue that binds the dreamlike, tender promo together.&nbsp;

Muse are back with their first release in four years - and immediately at full throttle -&nbsp;with Jared Hogan's sci-fi epic for Won't Stand Down.&nbsp;The video sees an ancient woman masked with vocalist Matt Bellamy's face, drawing power from a faceless army and transcending into an augmented being.[imgtoken data:1]&nbsp;From the futuristic art direction through to the&nbsp;seamless VFX and dynamic cinematography, the video is a tour de force&nbsp;of creativity which builds to a rip-roaring, intense climax. And the&nbsp;haunting silicone mask the lead character wears jumps right into the uncanny valley, and makes for an uncomfortable viewing experience in the best way.&nbsp;Like every Muse video, there is an important message bubbling under the surface, this time focused on standing up against bullies and oppressors. Filmed in Ukraine - producers MrMr teamed up with Shelter in Kiev for the production of the video - the concept perfectly encapsulates these themes.
