Spanish director Pablo Maestres&nbsp;approaches filmmaking in his&nbsp;own, distinct&nbsp;style of&nbsp;gorgeously&nbsp;retro photography and&nbsp;unsettling, surreal narratives, as we saw with his award-winning video for <a href="http://www.promonews.tv/videos/2012/11/13/be-brave-benjamin-devil-fool-pablo-maestres" target="_blank">Be Brave Benjamin</a> a couple of years ago.&nbsp;&nbsp;But he&#39;s&nbsp;truly outdone himself with his video&nbsp;for Fur Voice&#39;s dreamy song&nbsp;Fantasía. It&#39;s a tour de force, somewhat&nbsp;reminiscent of&nbsp;Alice In Wonderland, which features&nbsp;a young girl trapped in a&nbsp;magical, nightmarish&nbsp;world.Charmingly art directed by Anna Colomer, and shot ultra-wide&nbsp;by&nbsp;Marc Miró, it contains all sorts of spellbinding sequences&nbsp;that come together to form a video that is equal&nbsp;parts eerie and&nbsp;enchanting.[imgtoken data:1]

After their video for Handsome,&nbsp;The Vaccines venture once again&nbsp;into that retro,&nbsp;B-movie aesthetic&nbsp;for their latest, Pen$acola-directed video for Dream Lover.&nbsp;&nbsp;It sees our heroes in an&nbsp;80&#39;s sci-fi flick-inspired&nbsp;video, where the Vaccines&nbsp;matching outfits are spacesuits, their weapons are lazer guns&nbsp;and their challenge: reaching&nbsp;the ever-mystical Dream Lover. Unfortunately for them, it&nbsp;is heavily guarded&nbsp;by motion-sensor lazers, gas-chambers, girls with beams shooting out of their eyes, and creepiest of all,&nbsp;a giant robotic eye. Will they make it?

Oh, CANADA. You cinematic marvels of the music video. You connoisseurs of cool. Every time whispers and rumours of a new CANADA film circulate through the creative community, we all know we&#39;re in for a treat. &#39;I heard they&#39;re shooting some Italian road trip&#39;&nbsp;or &#39;well I heard they took over a football stadium and invented a wild neo-futuristic death-battle sport.&#39;&nbsp;Every outing feels like a celebration of cinematic possibility, a reinvigorating dose of new&nbsp;to an art form so dense with creators that it can sometimes suffer unintentional bouts of iterative same-iness. So when a new CANADA video comes out, well, we&#39;re all reminded of this medium&#39;s possibilities.Their latest addition, &#39;Trying to be Cool&#39;&nbsp;for Phoenix, is certainly no exception.Masters of exploring layer upon layer of beautifully pure concepts, this video takes the idea of cool&nbsp;and weaves it into an ever-escalating performance by Phoenix, where every shot is like an act of one-upmanship over the last.&nbsp;Plenty of videos in the past have done the whole one-shot one-take&nbsp;idea, but this takes it a step further. Two cameras in a continuous relay race of a single performance by Phoenix, through a dizzying maze of one increasingly cool spectacle after another across a huge set. Quick sidebar: is anyone else totally amazed by the insane ping-pong skills singer Thomas Mars shows off? Seriously.A cool Spanish collective and a cool French band. Without a doubt, there&#39;s no trying&nbsp;here at all. This is pure, straight-up, unfiltered, undiluted cool. High-fidelity excellence. What else would you have expected?

Just like the original, we&#39;re watching a dangerous, hybrid futuristic sports event controlled by the &#39;suits&#39;. People get killed. And now they are also deadly robots playing... Its full-on, blockbuster action all the way - and a distinct change of direction from Canada&#39;s prevalent music video style of the past year.The cinematic production values are as impressive as anything Canada have ever done - another sterling job by Canada&#39;s in-house production team led by Oscar Romagosa. They certainly had a budget for this one - the video is sponsored by Red Bull - and they&#39;ve certainly used it well.The video was shot over four nights at a stadium in Barcelona (not Camp Nou), with a large cast marshalled through a action-packed Rollerball-style match. Great work from DPs Arnau Valls and Pau Castejón and impressive skills from Barcelona post house Glasswork. The whole thing is just awesome in fact...&nbsp;
