Chromeo&#39;s&nbsp;super-funky dudes Dave 1 and P-Thugg have been getting up to mischief since they were&nbsp;from pint-sized puppies - and just about getting away with it. That&#39;s the endearing message from Dugan O&#39;Neal&#39;s warm-hearted video for Must&#39;ve Been.It starts with some innocent girl-avoiding, before harking back to their teenage years in the Nineties and avoiding parental retribution for their heavy weed-smoking (and getting support from guest star DRAM), before they reveal that they started out as badass 7 year old police car joyriders...&nbsp;Loads of fun, all perfectly in keeping with that loveable Chromeo vibe.

Writer/director Dugan O&rsquo;Neal also stars in his video&nbsp;for electronic dance duo Kunzite - a homage to vintage acting audition tapes.Evoking&nbsp;80s-90s era open casting calls &ndash; and&nbsp;no detail is spared with the authentic&nbsp;vintage attire, VHS film-graininess and retro office decor &ndash;&nbsp;O&rsquo;Neal plays the eager actor waiting his turn behind other hopefuls for a chance at his big break. While actors line up and perform for a disinterested crew, with&nbsp;interpretive dance moves and rocking out with air instruments, our nervous hero in the waiting room finds&nbsp;momentary solace, with the entrance of another hopeful&nbsp;(played by O&#39;Neal&#39;s wife, Bethany McCarty).And&nbsp;when it&#39;s his turn to showcase his talents for the stern producer and bemused musicians, he mentally transports himself to a woodsy ethereal realm, where he finds the freedom and confidence to let loose. It&#39;s a great, goofy, feegood climax to the story.Very entertaining, and as well as Dugan&#39;s star turn, the whole project was a family affair: the surly casting director in the video is played by Tom Gundelfinger O&#39;Neal, Dugan&#39;s father.

Nash Edgerton, who did a great job with the action-packed (and violent) video for&nbsp;Bob Dylan&#39;s <a href="https://vimeo.com/47908331" target="_blank">Duquesne Whistle</a>&nbsp;a couple of years ago,&nbsp;has reunited with the great man to bring film-noir back to life for The Night We Called It A Day &ndash; from Dylan&#39;s unexpected Frank Sinatra tribute album Shadows in the Night.It features Dylan in the middle of a&nbsp;love-triangle which is doomed for a bloody end - and&nbsp;only one&nbsp;player&nbsp;can make it out alive. The sound and image go&nbsp;wonderfully together, and Nash (and Bob) properly reflect the intrigue and cynicism of the noir genre. And&nbsp;Dylan&#39;s heartwrenching&nbsp;vocals making it difficult to not sympathise with him&nbsp;a little, despite his backhanded ways...

He&#39;s done animation and he&#39;s done live action. He&#39;s even combined the two. But now David Wilson joins up with animator Christy Karacas (of Superjail! fame) to mix-and-mash the two media in an outstandingly effective and upfront way for Royal Blood&#39;s Out Of The Black.It&#39;s simply the best way to tell this full-throttle super-violent comedy&nbsp;action-horror - involving a gas station heist by psychotic alien inside a giant Easter bunny suit - and his buddies:&nbsp;a snowman, pumpkin, ice cream cone and walking heart. After the animated TV titles intro, the live action centring around a Doofus-like clerk sets the scene, before Karacas&#39;s extravagantly gory alien-revealing animation takes over...&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;I became a fan of Christy&rsquo;s show&nbsp;Superjail! a few years ago,&quot; says David. &quot;It was Christy&rsquo;s incredibly inventive fight sequences and love of hand drawn animation that made me obsess over his work. I love hand drawn animation. It&rsquo;s where my&nbsp;directing career began, and I still fill my free time over a light box, drawing away.&ldquo;I wanted to give Christy as much creative freedom as possible whilst making sure&nbsp;the animation and the live action would still sync together. I would give Christy the starting point of which characters were fighting, where their geographical placing was on the set, and which characters&nbsp;would die. It was then up to Christy to create fight sequence, knowing the in-and-out points.&rdquo;Post-production was carried out at Finish, who provided the colour grade and extensive visual effects work to knit the promo together. &quot;&ldquo;One of our key jobs was to create several big matte paintings, the main one being the backdrop for a scene where the service station employee confronts the aliens in costumes,&quot; explains Flame artist Judy Roberts.&nbsp;&quot;A smashed up helicopter, cars and a dead body, were all added to the clean plate using hand textured CGI renders, and various supplied photographic elements.Colourist Julien Biard adds: &ldquo;David is based in LA and he couldn&rsquo;t be in the grading suite with me so we used a remote grading system, where I&rsquo;m grading in London and David is at another facility in LA. It&rsquo;s great because both suites are linked up by an almost instantaneous feed so he could see every adjustment of the grade in real time.&quot;&ldquo;They worked tirelessly to elevate the piece,&quot; says David of FInish&#39;s input.&nbsp;&quot;Like with the majority of Post Production this is done in ways that are often very difficult to spot, but that&rsquo;s only because they did an incredible job. The result lived up to my dreams. I dreamed BIG on this one!&rdquo;&nbsp;

Three young men (at least) go through big transformative experiences in Foster The People&#39;s big comeback video for Coming Of Age, directed by BRTHR.The young directing team hark back to the heyday of 80s teen cinema in a way that&#39;s both slightly tongue-in-cheek and entirely&nbsp;heartfelt - a good combination for FTP.&nbsp;And with a gorgeous film look, it&#39;s all done with the visual flair we&#39;re&nbsp;coming to expect from Alex Lee and Kyle Wightman, aka&nbsp;BRTHR.&nbsp;

Foster The People - Coming of Age

It&#39;s a leftfield idea that is initially almost bamboozling, because the video is true to the traditions of the genre. Patrick, back to directing after a year-plus sabbatical, plays it straight with a combination of intrigue, romance, evildoing and derring-do. You just have to disentangle a number of simultaneous storylines, set in different timeframes and places (both South and North Korea) involving the same actors playing similar roles in the different narratives.Almost surprising too to see Patrick Daughters returning with something so averse to the cinematic production values for which he&#39;s renowned. But its so faithful to the subject you&#39;d be forgiven for thinking its the real McCoy, until a few characters start lipsyncing...
