Antony Barkworth-Knight draws upon Tibetan Buddhist teaching for his visual for the Mercury-nominated modern jazz outfit GoGo Penguin.&quot;In the Tibetan tradition, Bardo refers to the journey experienced from the point the body draws it&rsquo;s final breath to the rebirth of your spirit,&quot; Barkworth-Knight explains. &quot;The journey would appear as a dream whereby previous karmic action can produce frightening images. Ultimately it is the process by which previous karma will determine the form of the next Rebirth.&quot;At death there will be various forms of light. A blue light is the light of Buddha &ndash; not the man but the purest form of consciousness.&quot;Using the concept of Bardo as a starting point we wanted to make a music video that works as a powerful aesthetic statement for the band&rsquo;s leading single for the forthcoming album, Humdrum Star.&nbsp;Working with DOP Jamie Kennerley we were keen to create an ethereal piece with elements of loose narrative, abstract images and most of all something human that people could read into their own stories or interpretations.&quot;

Antony Barkworth-Knight and 3D artist Ben Black construct a multi-dimensional, multicoloured&nbsp;world in the promo for Lavander Worm&#39;s Pond,&nbsp;and channel the spirit of early CGI in the process.Their eye-catching and&nbsp;charming work (described by Thump as looking &quot;like it was made by a genius toddler&quot;)&nbsp;takes us&nbsp;into a world where a small army of gold-plated men plot to &#39;defeat the evil, viral vacuum elephant&#39;. It&#39;s a mission that is doomed to failure on account of the gold guys being in Antony&#39;s words, &quot;irrevocable idiots&quot;.

Antony Barkworth-Knight&#39;s rotoscope-on-paper animation for <a href="http://www.promonews.tv/videos/2012/07/05/fitzroy-north-white-paint-antony-barkworth-%E2%80%8Bknight" target="_blank">Fitzroy North&#39;s White Paint</a> got him&nbsp;noticed,&nbsp;and he&#39;s repeated the technique since. But with his new video for Fitzoy North&nbsp;it&#39;s all change. For Realization he&#39;s dispensed with the long painstaking weeks of drawing. Instead its his live action debut - featuring a motley yet charming crew of&nbsp;rapping glove puppets.But it also took quite a while to make. This&nbsp;full-on puppet riot was filmed in Barcelona and Manchester over two months. Despite it&#39;s ultra lo-fi look it&#39;s was no small feat. The rap itself was shot with Manchester actor, clown and puppeteer, Cathy Shiel, no fewer than 40 times across locations in Manchester&#39;s northern quarter. The puppets in the video are interpretations of the crew and friends of the artist.

Manchester-based animator Antony Barkworth-Knight recently completed the hand charcoal-rotoscoped video for <a href="http://www.promonews.tv/videos/2013/11/14/gogo-penguin-last-words-antony-barkworth-knight" target="_blank">Gogo Penguin</a>, and previously the similarly rotoscoped animation for <a href="http://www.promonews.tv/videos/2012/07/05/fitzroy-north-white-paint-antony-barkworth-%E2%80%8Bknight" target="_blank">Fitzroy North</a>. But this video for Finnish producer V.C. - pioneer of the Scandinavian-born sound of skweee, apparently &ndash;&nbsp;shows he can also turn his hand to something very different indeed.In fact the video for Roy M., all moving&nbsp;shapes&nbsp;in neon-bold colours, is a real eye-melter...&nbsp;&nbsp;It comes from the new V.C. album Invisibility, released on December 6th - Finnish Independence Day.&nbsp;

Antony Barkworth-Knight created a lovely hand-drawn animated&nbsp;video for <a href="http://www.promonews.tv/videos/2012/07/05/fitzroy-north-white-paint-antony-barkworth-%E2%80%8Bknight" target="_blank">Fitzroy North</a> last year. Now he&#39;s applied a version of the same technique - where he rotoscopes over existing footage &ndash; to create this video for Last Words, by Manchester based jazz trio Gogo Penguin.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Having recorded the track last year for their debut album Fanfares,&nbsp;the band then created a new version for a BBC Maida Vale session, and were then inspired to&nbsp;approach Antony &ndash; also based in Manchester &ndash;&nbsp;to create an animated video that could portray the idea behind this piece of music. The result is a very piece with a huge emotional&nbsp;punch - where the close ties between a husband and father, wife and daughter are tragically ended.It was actually based on a combination of live action and CG, that was then rotoscoped by hand by Antony, who used a huge amount&nbsp;of charcoal&nbsp;to create the 2,500 hand-drawn frames that tell this poignant&nbsp;tale,&nbsp;before digitising and texture were added.&nbsp;What an achievement.
