Ben Brook reunites with No Rome following the video for Brother with another ambitious visual for Elevator Music (OMG) where, appropriately, the camera keeps going upwards.Brook's video is underpinned by a perpetually rising shot which takes us through derelict floors, each subtly tying&nbsp;into Rome’s self-reflection and linking back to themes&nbsp;established in previous video. Then it breaks out into a to-camera performance enhanced with collage-like FX work for the final 'OMG' section.Blended with analogue textures, uncanny&nbsp;NeRF setups and graphic AI experimentation, the video leans into a dystopian, near-future aesthetic, which perfectly suits the concept.&nbsp;"It was inspired by the old Film4 ident which repeated scenes across a similar movement," Brook explains. "It’s always great watching everything come together on the day. It was quite a small space to work within."[Production designers] Set Sisters had such a task re-dressing for all the scenes, and Sonny tweaking and re-lighting to vary across new takes meant there was a lot of moving parts. But we managed to get just enough coverage after dropping a couple more ambitious/time-consuming takes, and we definitely achieved the desired look."

Balan Evans directs a touching promo for Eloise's Drunk On A Flight.&nbsp;The video sees the artist sat at the end of a row of characters, waiting to board a flight in a mockup airport. Fragments of narrative from the lyrics are visualised in vignettes between other characters, yet Eloise exudes&nbsp;the emotion of the entire track, poignant and bittersweet, in her performance.&nbsp;Dynamic camerawork and clever moving pieces give the video a dreamlike flourish, and the art direction helps to both sell the location and give the entire concept a larger than life feel.[imgtoken data:1]"This one was a real feat but it felt like everyone was on the same page from day dot," director Balan Evans says."It’s actually the first big set build I’ve done which had its own new challenges, but we had an incredible team who all brought their own unique style to the film. It all just meshed together in the best possible way."

Raja Virdi explores the thin line between good and bad for the big&nbsp;team-up of Marshmello, Mae Muller and Trippie Redd.&nbsp;The video for American Psycho takes place in a series of stylish custom-built sets, with a red and white colour scheme which represents the dichotomy of a toxic relationship.&nbsp;Muller and Redd thrive in their unique setups, and Virdi's use of dynamic transitions, animated elements and rhythmic editing keeps the video constantly engaging.[imgtoken data:1]"It was such a pleasure to direct this promo," says Virdi. "I'd been wanting to do a concept like this for a while and glad it fit the song so well. I love the themes of duality, and seeing the difference performance states of Mae between the red toxic sets and the white angelic sets."I really wanted to move the camera seamlessly between the spaces, keeping the visual constantly engaging with how we reveal new moments."Collaborating with my regular DOP Pieter Snyman and the insanely talented production designer Sarah Asmail&nbsp;ensured we found the rhythm for the piece and how best to give each space a unique feel for each artist on the song.[imgtoken data:2]"The turnaround was immense for this one with needing to shoot and deliver all within a week. But thanks to an insanely talented crew, we just about got there&nbsp;- albeit with little to no sleep, lol. Luis Hindman directs a late-night meditation on lost love and blurred memories for Joesef's latest promo.&nbsp;The video for It's Been A Little Heavy Lately follows the artist on a hazy late-night drive, reminiscing about better times and missed opportunities.&nbsp;"I drew on filmmakers such as Wong Kar-wai, Kieslowski and Xavier Dolan for their ability to create heightened-realities and&nbsp;dream-like atmospheres," says Hindman.&nbsp;The intimate, understated energy of the piece perfectly matches the downtempo track, and the effervescent cinematography creates a dreamlike world which feels caught somewhere between reality and fiction. All of this paves the way for a shocking finale, which ends in a familiar place...&nbsp;"The video’s finale is a direct tie-in to a previous Joesef video for Comedown," Hindman explains.&nbsp;"So, yep, this is a prequel of sorts. Trilogy on the cards?&nbsp;We'll see..."&nbsp;[imgtoken data:1]Joesef gave a little background to the song itself, and the inspirations that made their way into the visual.&nbsp;"I wanted the song to feel like a bad trip, there’s a lot of different textures; the tempos are higher, and the drums are slightly swung," he says. "It also features a sample from the film Totally Fucked Up by Gregg Araki: the stories he tells, and how he portrays them visually inspire me every day, and fit the context of the song so well."I had to write to him for the sample clearance and he said 'yes', which was fucking mindblowing to me. He’s a hero of mine.”

A young woman pours the ashes of&nbsp;her beloved late mother into her running shoes and leaves her suburban home - wielding a pole vaulter's pole - in a race against time...Hard Drive Gold, the latest release ahead of alt-J's fourth album The Dream (out on Feb 11th)&nbsp;has a video that follows in the tradition of the band's consistently excellent track record in visuals - particularly those that put a different spin on dramatic suspense. In this case, it comes from a new directing duo, consisting of&nbsp;an alt-J bandmember and his partner: Newman-Wallace are the band's singer and guitarist&nbsp;Joe Newman, and&nbsp;choreographer Darcy Wallace.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;We follow the young woman - played by Ellie McCartney - as she drags the pole from her garage, and then pounds through nearly empty suburban streets with it, as if she is on the longest-ever pole vaulter's run-up. This striking image is made even more mysterious by the&nbsp;context - the imminence of a nuclear attack and, as a result, the mostly panic-stricken behaviour of her neighbours.[imgtoken data:1]Finally she reaches her destination - but can she complete her leap before the missiles strike?Newman-Wallace's highly cinematic directing debut was shot by Krzysztof Trojnar, and executive produced by Andrew Law, longtime commissioner of alt-J's videos, now head of music and special projects at&nbsp;Biscuit Filmworks."It was a great privilege to work with Joe and Darcy on their debut piece of filmmaking,which I think is a brilliant music video that stands tall next to the rest of the band's enviable canon of work," says Law. Harvey Pearson addresses a tough subject in a hugely affecting way&nbsp;for young indie-soul&nbsp;singer Puma Blue.Jacob Allen (aka Puma Blue) wrote Velvet Leaves a few years after his sister attempted suicide - when he was finally able to process&nbsp;this traumatic and tragic event. Pearson's video for the song explores the relationship between the singer and his sibling - their friendship and the impact of her mental health issues upon him - in an impressionistic fashion, with reality slipping into a dreamworld and then veering towards somewhere nightmarish.With Mia Gill playing the sibling foil to Allen's sensitive performance, Pearson uses a number of effective, lo-fi&nbsp;visual devices to express emotion and instability: the film speeding up to a blur, the vision of the girl becoming indistinct; the siblings frozen in a fiercely white spotlight, as if in grave danger.&nbsp;But perhaps most effective of all is a more realistic snapshot, after Allen witnesses his distressed sister storming out of the house.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;"This was a really special project and the first job out of lockdown," says Pearson. "Jacob (Puma Blue) came to me with this beautiful track and the touching story it told, one of family and getting through the hard times - balancing on the line of life and death. The video is a small tribute to Jacob’s sister, exploring memories and an abstract journey through mental health."&nbsp; &nbsp;
