OMG Everywhere, the project that gives kids the chance to develop their filmmaking skills by making their own music videos in a collaborative environment overseen by established music video directors, is coming to both London and New York for the first time this summer, as part of OMG Everywhere’s just-announced summer sessions.

The nonprofit organisation founded by directing team DANIELS (Daniel Scheinert and Dan Kwan) and Isaac Ravishankara in 2011 (and previously known as OMG Cameras Everywhere), will land in London for a week – from July 29th to August 4th 2013. OMG Everywhere will also take place in New York City from June 14th to the 23rd, before returning to Los Angeles for a third annual session from August 5th to August 11th.

Each programme will consist of free film workshops offered to a group of local youngsters, who will learn how to operate cameras, green screens, and do stop motion effects, ultimately directing performances of local musicians – all in an open, creative environment. The week will end with a group show presenting the students creations. Applications to attend the 2013 Summer Sessions will be available online from May 15th.

Music video directors who are participating in the OMG Everywhere summer sessions include Dugan O’Neal (Temper Trap, Ellie Goulding), Isaac Ravishankara (The Lumineers, KT Tunstall), Hiro Murai (David Guetta, Gym Class Heroes), Kirsten Lepore (Yo Gabba Gabba, MTV), Matt Amato (Beach House, Bon Iver) and the DANIELS (Foster the People, The Shins).

Each programme is also looking for donations, sponsors and volunteers in their particular location.

Juliette Larthe from Prettybird UK, who is coordinating the OMG Everywhere session in London says: “We’re so excited and delighted to be bringing this wonderful opportunity to London kids. We’ve watched OMG unfold across the pond wishing we could do something here and that time has now come. Yippee!

“PBUK are working along with Chris Watling of BBH on production requirements. Directors David Wilson, Thomas Napper and Nick Gordon are hopefully already on board – but this is a call to action for EVERYONE in the industry to please get involved and help us make OMG London as amazing as possible.

“OMG Everywhere is a unique chance for 10 to 14 year olds to come and learn the art of music video making. We’re incredibly proud that we can be a part of this is the inaugural London event. For further information and to sign up please go to omgeverywhere.org, and if you have any questions contact me via juliette@prettybirduk.com or ben@prettybirduk.com.”
