Blinkink has announced the signing of London-based director Zac Ella, who joins the studio for commercial representation across the UK and USA.

Zac Ella is a well-established director who builds funny worlds with funny people, specialising in comedy that combines grounded live action performances with an animator’s imagination.

His directing career began with music videos. One of his first outings, for Rent Boys, won Best Pop Video (Budget) at the UKMVAs, and he went on to direct clips for the likes of Bastille, Rae Morris, These New Puritans and Little Mix.

He started his career working across design, animation and VFX. That experience gives instinct for choosing the right technique to service each idea and creative challenge, whether through puppetry, practical effects, set builds or animation. His films place believable characters in worlds slightly twisted into the silly, with carefully crafted visual surprises.

His brand clients include McDonald’s, Verizon, Barclays, TikTok and adidas. His work has earned recognition across some of the industry’s biggest awards shows, including Cannes Lions and Clio Sports for his work with adidas, alongside his UKMVA win for Rent Boys.

Zac Ella's signing forms part of a wider initiative at Blinkink to nurture and grow a global network of talented mixed-media filmmakers, while championing craft and helping directors push their creative boundaries. Blinkink have also recently announced the signings of London-based Australian animation director Radheya Jang and LA-based writer-director Johnny Look to their directors roster.
