Leethal Reppin continues its new event series in partnership with Picturehouse Cinemas, bringing
films and music videos together on the big screen, with a screening of 1991 cult classic New Jack City.

As with the first event last month, where the main attraction was Spike Lee's Do The Right Thing, the screening of New Jack City takes place at Finsbury Park Picturehouse’s Club Room on Thursday, October 15th, with tickets including free popcorn and access to a private bar.

The movie directed by Mario Van Peebles and starring Wesley Snipes has been hugely influential for its visual style and use of music, informing a generation of rap music videos and the format's wider culture. And as with the Do The Right Thing event, it will be paired with a curated selection of music videos, introduced by Leethal Reppin founder and music video agent Lee Fairweather.

“New Jack City feels like a such a natural film to bring to the big screen as part of the Leethal Reppin season," says Fairweather. "There’s so much in the film that has fed into the visual language of music videos. From its characters and performances to its relationship with music and street culture cementing such an iconic era. It’s another opportunity to bring our creative community together and celebrate those connections.”

So much in the film has fed into the visual language of music videos.
