'Sex Education' sponsored walk for editor Steve Ackroyd on February 24th
Promonews - 20th Feb 2024
A Sex Education-themed sponsored walk will take place this Saturday, February 24th, as part of fundraising for Final Cut editor Steve Ackroyd's groundbreaking brain tumour treatment.
The walk has been organised to raise money as part of the ongoing efforts to fund Steve's immunotherapy treatment in Germany, on the grade 4 brain tumour that he was diagnosed with in 2022. Steve's wife Francesca Barnes launched the Steve Ackroyd Brain Tumour Treatment Go Fund Me page last May to finance the groundbreaking therapy in order to stall the aggressive cancer, and early treatment has had positive results. The event aims to move closer to the funding target of £300,000, to finance further treatment.
Family and friends will walk through central London, dressed in Sex Education-appropriate (or inappropriate) clothing. Steve was an editor of the hugely popular Netflix TV show, before his diagnosis. And his fellow Final Cut editors Dave Webb and Ben Taylor have cut a special Sex Education-themed trailer for the event - which begins in at 2pm on Saturday at The Embankment.
