Wendy Morgan, director of award-winning music videos for the likes of Alicia Keys and Janelle Monáe, has now scooped a number of top awards at the Can Film Fest for debut feature film Sugar Daddy.
The movie - a gripping drama about a struggling musician (played by Kelly McCormack) who signs up to a 'sugar daddy' website where rich older men pay to go on dates with younger women - won the awards for Best Director, Best Feature, Best Performance and Best Music at CFF.
Directed by Morgan - who's career as a music video director includes work for The Kills, Laura Mvula, Bloc Party and most recently a series of videos for Lous & The Yakuza - and produced by all-women filmmaking team, Sugar Daddy has been critically acclaimed ahead of the CFF award win.
The reviewer in Film Threat wrote: "Due to outstanding writing, stylish, dazzling direction, and a breathtaking, radiant performance from Kelly McCormack, the drama never lets the audience go and proves to be a searing examination of its young protagonist and the society she lives in."
