RadicalMedia signs Samona Olanipekun
RadicalMedia have announced that British-Nigerian director Samona Olanipekun has joined the production company's global directors' roster.
Samona Olanipekun has directed a number of short films, including Kindred, commissioned by The Barbican in 2018, which won Best Experimental Film at the 2019 Aesthetica Short Film Festival.
During lockdown, Olanipekun directed a powerful music video for Jorja Smith’s Rose Rouge, which viewed the Black Lives Matter movement through a lens of empowerment and celebration, and drew upon footage captured on mobile phones at protests around the world.
Olanipekun explores concepts including identity, community and belonging. He learnt his trade creating branded content with friends, and he has recently turned his attention to directing works which explore the fine line between fiction and documentaries. He is currently working on a web-series along with his debut feature.
