Former music and film journalist Lee Fairweather has joined London-based production company COMPULSORY as their new music video directors' representative.

Working under founding partner and head of music Kiran Mandla, Fairweather will be complimenting COMPULSORY’s well established music video department by exploring new avenues to connect artists and the company's roster of directors.

It's been a busy year for COMPULSORY, making music videos for artists such as Madonna, Kojey Radical, Beabadoobee and Jay Prince. Fairweather, who has been a frequent contributor to platforms such as Crack Magazine and Ransom Notes as a journalist, now brings an encyclopedic knowledge of the music industry, giving him a head start on the ever-changing scene, as well as a passion for cinema.

As creative directors, photographers and image makers the company's roster of multidisciplinary artists have already delved into crafting tour visuals and album artwork for musicians such as Post Malone, Sevdaliza, Alfie Templeman and Beabadoobee. Fairweather's remit will include focussing on packaging projects for artists, establishing connections with COMPULSORY’s award-winning talent and continuing the company’s model of incubating new directors.

“Lee’s taste and drive in finding and developing new talent is instrumental to a modern day production company like us," says Kiran Mandla. "Always being present in the wings of our growth, it’s incredible to have him join the company and my department now officially. I look forward to create some amazing opportunities for our directors going forward.”

Founding partner and head of film Chris Toumazou, adds: “Since we started, COMPULSORY’s music output has been at the forefront and will always remain so. It’s what we’re passionate about and has defined our personalities so we needed to recruit someone who understood our distinctive taste. Lee’s knowledge of artists from the music side will help compliment our work going forward, and it’s with great pleasure to welcome him into the gang.”

Lee Fairweather says about his new role: “I’ve always admired the way the COMPULSORY’s passion is reflected in the work and truly honoured to be apart of the team, working together to continue this tradition and ever growing success. I’m looking forward to help continuing our support for new talent and helping our clients in music work with the best of them.”
