Saman Kesh and Dawit N.M. sign to FRIEND
FRIEND have announced the signing of two US-based directors for UK representation, at different ends of the experience scale : Saman Kesh and Dawit N.M.
Saman Kesh's 10 year career in music videos has seen him direct promos for the likes of Basement Jaxx, Kygo, Russ Chimes, DJ Carnage and Placebo, and he recently returned to the medium after a period working in TV and commercials with his video for Hot Chip's Hungry Child, where a couple's sniping relationship is literally changed by the song - they cannot get it out of the heads, day or night.
Saman Kesh is described by FRIEND as a filmmaker who "murders robots, abuses musicians, tricks celebrities into becoming involved with his absurd goals, and creates worlds that he wishes he could live in." Check out his work on the FRIEND website here.
Kesh is accompanied to the FRIEND roster by Dawit N.M., an Ethiopian-born filmmaker and photographer based out of Brooklyn, NY. His work includes the excellent multi-track video for Mereba's The Jungle, released earlier this year.
"[Dawit's] fascination with the commonality of the human experience and the feelings each one of us feels motivates him to create," FRIEND have announced. "He finds it best to frame a feeling more than anything. Doing this helps him make images that resonate well with people; because the elimination of unnecessary things forces them to focus on the subject and slowly into the feelings present."
