Irish director Locky - aka Lochlainn McKenna - has joined the roster at Kode Media in London for representation for music videos.

The director of music videos for Daithí, 1000 Beasts, Tim Chadwick & Eve Belle amongst others, Locky won the Best New Director award at the recent Kinsale Sharks for his Daithí music video In My Darkest Moments - which also won best low budget music video and best cinematography. 

Hailing from Cork, McKenna has directed ads for Sky, Toyota, Now TV, Heineken and Aer Lingus. His music video ‘Better’ won Best Editing at Kinsale in 2017, and also earned a special mention at the ICAD Young Director Awards. He has recently directed a new Daithi video, for Orange.

“While our head of new business Dan Mallerman returned from Kinsale with a hangover, he also returned with a reel that stood out to us all here at Kode," says Kode’s head of music video Nathan Killham. "I knew as soon as I started watching through Locky’s work that he was someone I wanted to collaborate with. His ability to make every shot matter both cinematically and in terms of telling a story are skills I feel are highly important in making music videos. He’s a perfect fit here and I’m so excited to create videos together.”

Locky adds: “On the back of clinking many a pint at Kinsale with the gents at Kode, we thought it’d be good to have a sober chat in London. Kode are a lovely, genuine bunch and they come from a place of diligence and hard work which I really empathise with. 

"I asked Dan Mallerman during one of our final meetings “if Kode were a Premier League team who would they be”… he replied 'Bournemouth, steadily rising and challenging the big boys'... and from there I was sold! I’m genuinely excited for 2019 with them. We’re going to do some fantastic work together, I’ve no doubt. It’s going to be great.”
