Deep Cuts 2 - UKMVAs' and Cut+Run's editing workshop returns on November 15th

Promo News - 7th Nov 2018

UK Music Video Awards and top editing house Cut+Run are hosting Deep Cuts 2, a workshop for aspiring filmmakers and editors on the techniques of editing, featuring an expert panel from the world of music videos and beyond, next Thursday, 15th November, at Cut+Run's HQ in London.

Fouad Gaber, winner of the Best Editing in a Video award at this year's UKMVAs last month for his work on Chaka Kahn's Like Sugar, will be on the panel together with fellow editors Sam Bould and Samantha Neal, and director Ivana Bobic. They will be showing and discussing examples of their work, how they practice their craft, and the impact of the art of editing on music videos.

It's the second year running that the UK Music Video Awards and Cut+Run in London have got together to present the Deep Cuts event in the aftermath of the UKMVAs themselves, bringing a panel together of experienced professionals to discuss how they do their work for the benefit of people hoping to break into the industry.

Fouad Gaber has been building his profile as an editor since 2013, working at Trim Editing for most of that time; his work includes several videos for Mura Masa directed by Yoni Lappin, Max Weiland's video for Elton John's Tiny Dancer and Olivia Rose's video for Jorja Smith's Blue Lights, together with Kim Gehrig's video for Chaka Khan, winner of Best Editing at the UKMVAs this year.

Samantha Neal is a freelance editor whose music video credits include Stormzy's Big For Your Boots, Lily Allen's Hard Out Here and Dakota ft Not3s' Sober.

Sam Bould, who is based at Cut+Run, has considerable experience in commercials and music video editing, working with The Sacred Egg on videos including Royal Blood's How Did We Get So Dark and Steve Aoki's Pur Genocide, and the just released George Ezra video for Hold My Girl, directed by Bison.

Ivana Bobic, the only director on the panel, has had a busy year in commercials and music videos, including directing three videos for Sigrid, including Strangers and High Five, and has just completed her second video for Nothing But Thieves.

This year's panel is moderated by Cut+Run's Martin Macnamara, and tickets are now on sale for the event, including drinks, for £6, with all the proceeds of the ticket sales going to War Child.
