James Rose returns to Cut+Run London

James Rose returns to Cut+Run London

David Knight - 7th Jan 2016

Top editor James Rose has returned to Cut+Run in London as editor and partner, three years after leaving the company to move to Final Cut.

In an announcement, Cut+Run founding editor Steve Gandolfi has welcomed Rose back to the company, saying: "He's a top talent. James has a great visual eye, is a positive voice in the creative process of the edit, and we're over the moon he's back to help continue the development of the London office.”

Having learnt his craft as assistant to Nicholas Wayman Harris, Rose established his reputation in music videos in the 1990s, and then progressed to commercials while maintaining his links with music. In recent times he has edited videos for Alt-J, Arcade Fire, Kasabian, Lianne le Havas, Nero, Roisin Murphy and Will Young, working with directors including Anton Corbijn, Chino Moya and Ben Strebel. He's also recently edited ads for Honda (directed by Leila & Damian De Blinkk), House Of Fraser (by Ace Norton), Cadburys (by David Wilson), and Dior (by Corbijn).

“Having spoken with Steve and the guys, it seems like the logical development in my career to help build C+R London into the leading force it should be," says Rose. "There's an excellent production office headed by Kayt and Toby plus a developing online wing with colour grading.

"There's already a lot of exciting editing talent in the building, with more coming through. I'm excited at the opportunity to help nurture that to fruition.”
