David Knight - 7th Jan 2015
The promos for Arcade Fire's We Exist, DJ Snake & Lil Jon's Turn Down For What, Sia's Chandelier, Pharrell Williams' Happy and Woodkid ft Max Richter's The Golden Age are all nominated for the Best Music Video award at this year's Grammys, the American music industry's biggest awards jamboree of the year.
In the Best Music Film category, performance-based longforms for Beyoncé & Jay Z, Coldplay, Metallica and Pink are joined by the Oscar-winning documentary 20 Feet From Stardom on the nominations list. Jonas Åkerlund, who directed Beyoncé & Jay-Z's On The Run concert film (above), and Paul Dugdale, who directed Coldplay's Ghost Stories, are both nominated in this category for the second year in succession.
As well as Dugdale, British interest in the Video and Film nominations is represented by David Wilson, who directed the video for Arcade Fire's We Exist. Meanwhile director Jesse Kanda and XL Recordings' video commissioner and creative director Phil Lee are co-nominated with FKA twigs in the Best Recording Package category, for the album cover of twigs' debut album LP1.
