Panellists lined up for MusicVidFest on November 10th - plus video legend Steve Barron on the '80s

David Knight - 31st Oct 2014

With the first MusicVidFest, a one-day conference on the business of creativity in music videos, taking place in just over a week’s time at BFI Southbank in London, a number of panellists have now been confirmed to take part in the conference, together with a special presentation of the fantastic new autobiography by one of the pioneers of music video, Steve Barron.

In addition to the Grammy-winning video director Joseph Kahn kicking off the inaugural MusicVidFest on November 10th as keynote speaker, those taking part in the event include Jules de Chateleux of Division Paris, Jennifer Byrne of Dazed & Confused, James Hackett of Virgin EMI, Danielle Hinde from Doomsday Entertainment, Juliette Larthe from Prettybird UK, Mike O’Keefe from Sony Music, Tim Nash at Somesuch, directors Sam Pilling, Vania Heymann, Georgia Hudson and Henry Scholfield, and Matt Rennie, MD of Box Television.

With panels on areas of music video creativity - production, direction and commissioning - on new technical innovations, the numbers that reveal the power of music videos, and the future direction of the industry, MusicVidFest on November 10th is shaping up to examine and address some of the key challenges and opportunities facing music video creators.

And music video directing legend Steve Barron will present extracts from his soon-to-be-published autobiographical memoir Egg n' Chips and Billie Jean – all about his amazing times as a top music video director in the 1980s. That comes at the climax of MusicVidFest, just a few hours before the big awards night of the year for music videos kicks off – the UK Music Video Awards 2014.

More panellists and contributors to the first MusicVidFest are expected to confirm in the next few days. Find out more about the inaugural event here. A combined MusicVidFest pass and UK Music Video Awards ticket is available at a reduced price until midnight on Friday 31st October, and is available to book online here.
