A global multi-screen premiere of the film accompanying Goldfrapp's latest album Tales Of Us has been announced for next Tuesday, March 4. The 30 minute film directed by Lisa Gunning will be simultaneously broadcast to 60 cinemas around the UK, and also to Europe, North America, Australia and New Zealand, and then immediately followed by an exclusive dramatic Goldfrapp live performance from the legendary Air Studios in London.
Lisa Gunning's Tales Of Us film is a 30-minute journey through five of the individual stories featured on the album, two of which being previously released as music videos for tracks from the album released as singles, Drew and Annabel (pictured above).
Tales Of Us is Gunning's breakthrough work as a director, as she was previously best known as one of the UK's top film editors, with her credits including Nowhere Boy, Seven Psychopaths and Salmon Fishing in the Yemen. Tales Of Us, containing the stories entitled Stranger, Laurel, Jo, Drew and Annabel, was co-created by Gunning and Alison Goldfrapp.
The film was produced by Stephanie Zari at Cap Gun Collective; and the creative team behind the live cinematic event includes executive producer Catherine Ugwu MBE (executive producer of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic opening and closing ceremonies); critically acclaimed set designer Shona Heath (Dior, Valentino, Prada) who also created the iconic owl that graced Goldfrapp’s Seventh Tree album artwork; and lighting designer Rob Sinclair (Vampire Weekend, Pet Shop Boys).
The film and the live concert are being broadcast to cinemas across the world by Arts Alliance Media.
