Justin Timberlake and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis will go head-to-head at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards, as they lead the field of nominees with six nods apiece.

Bruno Mars is close behind with four VMA nominations, while Pink, Robin Thicke, Miley Cyrus and Thirty Seconds To Mars each picked up three. Taylor Swift, Drake, Calvin Harris and Fun. are also in the running for multiple Moonmen.

Timberlake's Floria Sigismondi-directed video for Mirrors is in the running for Video Of The Year, up against Macklemore & Ryan Lewis's massive Thrift Store hit, directed by Jon Jon Augustavo; and bandmembers Ryan Lewis and Ben Haggerty (aka Macklemore). Cameron Duddy and Bruno Mars' video for Mars' Locked Out Of Heaven, Robin Thicke's Blurred Lines by Diane Martel; and Anthony Mandler's video for Taylor Swift's I Knew You Were Trouble make up the other Video Of The Year nominees.

Up for Best Direction are David Fincher for Timberlake's Suit And Tie; Augustivo, Ryan Lewis and Jason Koenig for Macklemore and Lewis's Can't Hold Us; Megaforce for Yeah Yeah Yeahs' Sacrilege; Anthony Mandler's video for fun.'s Carry On and Director X and Drake for Drake's Started From The Bottom.

British interest in the awards includes two videos for Emil Nava - Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding's I Need Your Love (in Best Collaboration), and Ed Sheeran's Lego House (in Best Male Video). There's also Fred & Nick's promo for Mumford & Sons' I Will Wait in Best Rock Video and Charlie Lambros's art direction for Alt-J's Tessellate.
