Here's our first Covid-19-related news round-up, as production companies, labels and freelancers start to adapt to remote working:
Factory Films announces its closure
Factory Films, the production company that has been the long-term home to Sophie Muller, WIZ, Jamie Thraves, Dom & Nic, Alex and Liane, Scott Lyon, John Hillcoat, Pedro Romhanyi and others, has announced that its closing for business.
Joint MDs Toby Hyde and Paul Fennelly told Promo News that having looked at ways of continuing the company since they left their production office a few months ago, they had reached the decision that it was better to cease operating entirely.
"We've spent the last few months looking at various incarnations of how Factory could continue in a meaningful way but have come to the conclusion collectively that it's time to call it a day. We had five great years at the top of UK music video production, making some great films, working with fantastic talent across the board and hopefully some of our videos have brightened peoples days and inspired new talent.
"The choker for us was really committing to a further five years to a lease in the current climate, which of course leads to bigger questions for everyone about a future in music videos long term.
"We hope people will look back fondly on Factory - its integrity and the work we produced together with our very talented friends. We had a lot of fun."
Factory produced videos for many of the top British music artists including Kasabian, Oasis, Will Young, Dizzee Rascal, Kylie Minogue, Cheryl Cole, Duffy, Sade, Chemical Brothers, Katy B, The Zutons, Mark Ronson and UNKLE.
