Peter Szewczyk joins Stamp Films

David Knight - 3rd Aug 2010

Peter has over ten years experience in animation and VFX, working as senior digital artist on several big budget features, including Avatar, Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows and 2012. But more recently he has begun directing himself, executing personally-initiated projects that have demonstrated his all-round filmmaking abilities. His first short film Dark Clouds was selected for the Short Shorts Asian Film Festival and Rincon International Film Festival, and was featured in Stash Magazine and IDN. Then his Maccabees video for Young Lions (commissioned directly by the band's frontman Orlando Weekes) was shot over a number of weeks, partly while he was on holiday in Iceland, having been originally conceived as a short film based on the James Thurber story The Moth and The Star. He also recently completed an animated childrens' book, Paco Bongo, for the iPhone and iPad. Peter, previously unsigned, joins Stamp Films for music videos and commercials. "We're super excited about the signing of Peter," says Stamp's Ryan Hope. "He has a unique skill in his ability to effortlessly combine live action with his heavyweight, slick VFX. However, upon hanging out with him, you quickly realise that his superb eye for brilliant cinematography is where his major talent lies. "We're extremely excited to see the stories he is going to tell, and we're sure he is going to make a huge and valuable contribution to the scene. He really is a very unique talent and we are over the moon, and indeed very privileged, that he is going to be rocking and rolling out of Stamp HQ."
