Entry to the UK Music Video Awards 2010 has now been open for a more than a week, with about ten days left before the entry deadline for 17 categories - including all the best video and technical achievement awards - at this year's MVAs. The deadline for entry in the awards launched last week is August 3rd, and entry forms can be downloaded here and at the UK MVAs 10 website. The eligibility criteria for entries are on the entry forms, but it is worth stating that music videos that have not been completed and delivered to the commissioning company by July 31st - the end of next week, in other words - will not be eligible for entry in the awards. After the entry deadline, the MVA's pool of Jury Members will be asked to vote on the entries on the basis of the originality of concept, technical expertise and execution, and effectiveness. Each Jury Member will be asked to judge videos in no more than two or three categories at the MVAs, by logging into the online judging system operated by BEAM. From their votes, shortlists of videos will be created for each category. Shortlisted videos will then be judged by specially assembled judging panels, in the second and final round of judging. The MVAs' large pool of Jury Members comes from all parts of the music video industry - and everyone who was part of the Jury for last year's awards will be invited to once again take part in the first phase of the judging process over the next week or so. If you are not yet an MVA Jury Member but work in the UK music video industry and would like to be part of the judging process to find the best music videos of the past year, contact Louise Stevens on louise@ukmva.com. The 2010 UK Music Video Awards are being held at the Odeon West End in Leicester Square on October 12th. Ticket information is also available at the MVAs website.
