David Knight - 12th July 2010

The UK Music Video Awards, the big British music video awards celebration of the year, returns to London's West End in October to honour the outstanding creative achievements in music video in the UK and around the world from the past year - and entry for the best video, technical achievement and several other categories for the 2010 MVAs are open from today.

With the same range of awards honouring the best work and the greatest individual and technical achievements in music videos (and other music-related visual content) as last year's memorable show - as voted by members of the UK music video industry - the UK Music Video Awards 2010 will take place at the ODEON West End, Leicester Square on October 12th.

Then the festivities will continue after the ceremony with an aftershow party - at a new venue close to the ODEON West End.

Entry for many of the MVAs awards categories opens today: entry forms for 17 categories for the 2010 MVAs are available to download from the UK Music Video Awards website now. Those categories are:

Best pop video
Best rock video
Best dance video
Best indie/alternative video
Best urban video
Best budget video - rock/indie/alternative
Best budget video - pop/dance/urban
Best art direction in a video
Best styling in a video
Best cinematography in a video
Best editing in a video
Best visual effects in a video
Best animation in a video
Best telecine in a video

Entry forms for these categories will also be available here at Promo News later this week.

Cost of entry will remain the same as the MVAs for the past two years - £40 plus VAT per entry, plus an admin fee per video (paid once, regardless of the number of categories in which the video is entered) to upload an entry onto the judging platform administered once again by BEAM.

The deadline for all entries in these categories is Tuesday, August 3rd.

As with the MVAs 2008 and 09, these categories will be then judged by an extensive panel of Jury Members from the UK music video industry during August to create a shortlist, before the final nominations and winners are picked by small panels of experts.

A further five awards will also be voted on by Jury Members. These categories are:

Longlists of nominations in these categories will be revealed next month. In addition, the People's Choice Award will be decided by a public vote.

In the next few weeks, invitations will be sent to those selected as MVA Jury Members. If you wish to ensure that you are considered as a Jury Member, please contact Louise Stevens at louise@ukmva.com.

Tickets for the MVAs 2010 are also now available from the official website - again held at the same price as the MVAs in 2008 and 09.
