It is with great sadness that we have to announce that Gideon Baws, member of animation directing team Shynola, has passed away.

It is with great sadness that we have to announce that Gideon Baws, member of animation directing team Shynola, has passed away. Gideon, 33, died on Saturday in a hospital near Las Vegas, after a short holiday spent with Shynola colleague Richard Kenworthy and his wife, after they had attended a wedding together in Los Angeles. A moving tribute to Gideon appears on fellow animator David O'Reilly's website. David talks about the huge help that Gideon offered him in starting his own career, a sentiment shared by other members of the music video and animation community. More tributes to Gideon are already appearing on Antville. As a member of Shynola, Gideon was part of an outstanding team that set new standards for modern animation and created some of the best music videos of the last decade. Our sincere condolences go out to Gideon's family and many friends for their tragic loss.
