Nagi Noda 1973 - 2008

David Knight - 11th Sept 2008

Partizan, who represented her in the US, UK and France for her commercial and music video work, announced the tragic news of her death yesterday. Her work attracted global attention with her amazing video for Yuki's Sentimental Journey in 2003, which she subsequently adapted for the Coca-Cola commercial What Comes Around featuring music by Jack White, for Mother in London. She went on to make the highly inventive videos for Tiga's Far From Home and Scissor Sisters She's My Man and continued to make videos for Japanese artists. Her body of work also included sculpture, conceptual art, and character art. She created Hanpanda - half panda/half other beast - which has appeared in her art exhibits, videos, and was also part of a collaboration with L.A./N.Y. fashion brand Libertine. Last year, she collaborated with painter Mark Ryden on her own fashion label Broken Label. Her most recent commercial was for LG, out of BBH/New York. Madeleine Sanderson, executive producer of Partizan London, said, "Beyond being a brilliant artist and wonderful talent, Nagi was one of the most incredibly unique spirits that we have known. She will be deeply missed by everyone at Partizan, not only for her creative inspiration, but also as a friend. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends."
