David Knight - 9th June 2008

The premiere of the Gorillaz documentary Bananaz, an exhibition of Corin Hardy and David Lupton's work for their acclaimed Horrors video, programmes on British music videos, 'Nordic' music videos, audio-visual shenanigans, docs on Patti Smith, Lee 'Scratch' Perry and specials with British Sea Power and Partizan - these are just some of the gems on offer at Mirrorball, the special music strand of the Edinburgh International Film Festival. And it all starts next week.

This is the first year that the EIFF is being held between June 18th and 29th - rather than in August during the larger Edinburgh Festival for the first time - and the Mirrorball programme begins next Thursday June 19th with a screening plus performance event with eccentric indie outfit British Sea Power.

In Britannia Rules, a programme of the pick of the best British videos of the past 12 months to be shown on Monday June 23rd, the included videos will be up for the inaugural Best British Music Video award.

Full details of the programme for Mirrorball can be found here and full details of EIFF programme can be found here.

And you can watch the brand new trailer for Mirrorball 2008, directed by Eric Lerner at Partizan Lab, here.
