London editing studio Shift has announced that multi-award winning editor Paul O'Reilly has joined the&nbsp;Shoreditch-based company.Shift is a boutique editorial house founded in early 2021 by editor Saam Hodivala. The arrival of&nbsp;Paul O'Reilly now increases the Shift roster to three senior editors: Hodivala, O'Reilly and Chris Coupland.&nbsp;&nbsp;For more than ten years Paul O’Reilly has been demonstrating his distinctive flare for editing through a body of work including music videos, documentary, drama and sport. His music video credits include Run The Jewels' Love Again - for which he won a UKMVA for Best Editing&nbsp;in a Video in 2016 -&nbsp;and Chemical Brothers' We've Got To Try (both with director Ninian Doff), videos for Sam Smith, Rudimental, Mumford &amp; Sons, Hamzaa, Muse and in the past year, Pink's Trustfall for director Georgia Hudson and Calvin Harris's Miracle for Taz Tron Delix.His commercial work has also brought him great acclaim, with his work for brands including&nbsp;Bud Light, Nike Italy, Adidas China, Sports Direct and 7 Eleven.Shift’s founder and fellow editor Saam Hodivala remarks "I’ve known Paul for years since we were assistant editors, so I’m thrilled to now have him as part of our team. Taz Tron Delix directs the ethereal promo for Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding's collab on Miracle.&nbsp;The otherworldly video is inspired by the&nbsp;Nineties-style&nbsp;trance elements in the track, exploring&nbsp;a futuristic clash of desert landscapes, anachronistic styling and mysterious movement, revitalising and contemporising the transcendent aesthetics that were born out of the original movement.&nbsp;[imgtoken data:1]The video cuts between Ellie wearing a jewelry filled tiara and leather outfit with the look of a powerful Queen on an elevated platform surrounded by what appears to be worshippers in sleek beige suits and balaclavas. The track progresses they march in a strong manner, break-out dancing and wave their hands towards Ellie in a worshiping stance.We then witness different groups of people embracing one another mostly in masks, helmets faces covered, buried in sand, twisting through colourful smoke creating a mysterious tone.Blending a whole host of unusual elements into an oneiric experience, it really is a visual feat that demands your full attention, and elevates the track to a whole new artistic plane.&nbsp;[imgtoken data:2]

Muse are back with their first release in four years - and immediately at full throttle -&nbsp;with Jared Hogan's sci-fi epic for Won't Stand Down.&nbsp;The video sees an ancient woman masked with vocalist Matt Bellamy's face, drawing power from a faceless army and transcending into an augmented being.[imgtoken data:1]&nbsp;From the futuristic art direction through to the&nbsp;seamless VFX and dynamic cinematography, the video is a tour de force&nbsp;of creativity which builds to a rip-roaring, intense climax. And the&nbsp;haunting silicone mask the lead character wears jumps right into the uncanny valley, and makes for an uncomfortable viewing experience in the best way.&nbsp;Like every Muse video, there is an important message bubbling under the surface, this time focused on standing up against bullies and oppressors. Filmed in Ukraine - producers MrMr teamed up with Shelter in Kiev for the production of the video - the concept perfectly encapsulates these themes.

Max Siedentopf's new music video for Keinemusik takes the German pun of the 'ear worm'&nbsp;to a whole new level.Director and artist Max Siedentopf is known for his conceptual, whimsical and refreshingly humorous work, and this video delivers the same idiosyncratic energy we have grown to love.&nbsp;Whilst&nbsp;the lyrics are about love, Siedentopf spins the concept in a completely different direction, and what seems to be taken out of context remains in the memory like a good catchy tune.[imgtoken data:1]We open on a bald, middle-aged man ready to feed his pet gecko, before a worm squirms its way into his ear. The man immediately loses his mind, smashing through the wall to the next apartment and flopping over the balcony, falling and bouncing off of a car.&nbsp;As he swivels and gyrates down the street - much like a worm would - passers by also start to lose their minds, as their bodies distort, crush and amalagamate.&nbsp; Shot in Berlin on 16mm, the scenes look weird but cinematic, and build to an absolutely oddball climax.&nbsp;

It takes a heart-to-heart chat on the phone to get the fourth member of Team Mahalia to get back in the gang&nbsp;&nbsp;Paying homage to iconic videos from her youth, Mahalia exudes&nbsp;zesty, laidback energy&nbsp;and plenty of confidence to boot, ably supported by her girlfriends -&nbsp;Taitlyn and Kaylee Jaiy, and Demi Rox -&nbsp;whilst the effervescent visual is absorbingly nostalgic throughout.&nbsp;

Released to tie-in with the release of his acclaimed debut feature Get Duked! on Amazon last week, Ninian Doff provides the movie's young quartet of unlikely heroes&nbsp;with a new mission of extreme&nbsp;mischief: an ill-advised break-in at a&nbsp;mansion containing the prized possessions of Run The Jewels and 2 Chainz.&nbsp;The feckless foursome's blundering efforts at a daring heist is overseen at all times by a series of animated portraits, and sculptures, of RTJ's Killer Mike and El-p, and guest star 2 Chainz. They discover the famous RTJ gloves, and some pink jewels giving off some psychotropic properties - and then they go too far.As in Get Duked!, the riotous fun that Doff creates around his characters transitions effortlessly from realistic live action comedy to something way more extreme and cartoonish - shrinking the characters down in a dimension,&nbsp;giving them metallic limbs and sending their faces into supersonic time warps, as they confront giant version of RTJ and 2 Chainz.[imgtoken data:1]It is high concept aesthetic - arguably a big step further from the movie - and it involved a really big production effort including shoots of the artists in New York and Atlanta - with Colin Read providing second unit directing duties - while Doff, aided and abetted by regular DoP Patrick Meller, shot the main action with his Get Duked! cast in the UK.&nbsp;&nbsp;It is a brilliant effort - but to properly enjoy, and get to know and love the characters, go check out the feature first.

After his emotional video for <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2019/07/15/dermot-kennedy-outnumbered-luke-monaghan/61669" target="_blank">Dermot Kennedy's Outnumbered</a>,&nbsp;released during&nbsp;the summer, Luke Monaghan does a similarly powerful, beautifully crafted job for young London singer Hamzaa.Monaghan visualises her song Write It Down as the story of a subdued teenage girl (possibly a younger version of Hamzaa) who is wedded to the journal in which she pours her heart and soul. And that causes a tension within her family.In a world of softly-lit domestic interiors, and nighttime&nbsp;exteriors, shot by Harry Wheeler, Hamzaa herself is captured performing in commonplace London locations - a bus stop, a park - like an slightly removed observer of the unfolding narrative.And in the girl's story, there is eventually a break in the tension - perhaps unexpected, but&nbsp;an authentic expression of Hamzaa's own story.

A SNAFU of FYRE Festival proportions is saved at the last minute by director&nbsp;Max Siedentopf, who steps cheerily into Sigrid's role. Ironically, an apparent&nbsp;logistical cockup has made&nbsp;Mine Right Now&nbsp;a unique, winsome&nbsp;oddity, a&nbsp;tribute to teamwork and can-do optimism.Siedentopf, who is beginning to attract fans of his own,&nbsp;is endlessly memeable. If you have time, the YouTube comments section below his video is a treasure trove of #relatable jokes.&nbsp;The director explains his difficult situation below:"I’m very excited to share the latest music video I directed for the incredible pop artist Sigrid. However, this is not the video I was planning to shoot. We spent over a month preparing for the shoot which was supposed to be in the mountains of Bulgaria. We built all kinds of wonderful sets, however, the night before the shoot we found out that Sigrid wasn’t going to make it to the shoot due to several delayed and cancelled flights. A crew of over 40 people were left ready to shoot but with no artist to film. We could’ve decided to call it a day and just go home, but instead I was forced to take on the role of Sigrid and play her throughout the entire video. A funny irony as I usually come up with ideas but never have to play them myself."As you can imagine, everything is out of sync and my dance moves are so awkward they make you cringe, and my biggest fear is singing in public - you’ll never see me doing Karaoke!&nbsp;However that wasn’t the only thing that went wrong, during the shoot we had big weather storms, our sets collapsed, we got chased from the mountain by park rangers, there was a serial killer on the loose in the area, my dog passed away and much more. The shoot quickly turned into the FYRE festival of music videos but we decided to just keep on going and make a video for Sigrid.&nbsp;Big thanks goes out to my amazing team who all had the nerves, patience and humour to go through with this. I hope you enjoy it."
