BUG 44 - the videos
David Knight - 16th Sept 2014
Some of the best directors making music videos had their work featured at BUG 44 on September 12th – including Hiro Murai, Martin de Thurah, Nabil, Daniel Wolfe and Sophie Muller - in the show hosted at the BFI Southbank by the wonderfully witty Mark Watson.
There was plenty of other directing talent on show as well - inlcuding BANGS, NYSU, Joel Mackenzie and resident geniuses of off-the-wall animation, Cyriak and Chad VanGaalen. Mark, who was hosting BUG for the first time, also welcomed Nez to talk about his work, and screen his much-loved MVA-nominated video for Rudimental's Waiting All Night, his brilliant new video for Ten Walls, together with his Disclosure video for Help Me To Lose My Mind - not released by the band's label last year due to its ambivalent depiction of Class A drug-taking.
That Disclosure vid is still unavailable to view online from the usual outlets - officially that is. But otherwise here are the videos screened at BUG 44. From Chet Faker and Robyn & Röyksopp to Paolo Nutini and Beck, its a very fine collection...
