Katy Perry 'Rise' by Paul Gore

Katy Perry 'Rise' by Paul Gore

Paul Gore proves nothing can hold Katy Perry back in this gorgeous, simple visual metaphor.

Dragging a parachute through epic cinematic landscapes, Perry proves that she can turn the negative aspects of her life into positives by utilising them to soar above the earth. It's a simple narrative but the colours and locations used make for a beautiful visual, it's certainly slick and polished still, but in more of a raw and cinematic way. It's certainly a left turn from Perry's previous high-gloss, cartoonish pop aesthetic complete with a cavalcade of dancers. Having her completely solo in this clip proves to be a powerful and effective visual choice.
