ScHoolBoy Q 'JoHn Muir' by APLUS

Directing unit Aplusfilmz - that’s the brothers Edwin and Fredo Tovar and Scott Fleischman – give us a drive-by view of the cyclical nature of street crime in America in this brilliant clip for ScHoolBoy Q. Opening with a poignant quote from Punch and a very quick flash-forward, we follow the story of a car over a 24 hour period, and the two young men who use the vehicle for various criminal activities.
With a camera in a fixed position on the side of the car, the viewers becomes both distanced and helpless voyeurs of the ensuing action - effectively a cycle of violence begetting violence repeats over and over again.
Faces are blank or blurred, as actions become key here; it's almost impossible to have an identity as anything other than a criminal - and so nothing ever changes. Aplus really help to tell a powerful story in a time when these conversations are necessary.
