Aurora 'I Went Too Far' by Arni and Kinski

David Knight - 6th July 2016

After a long time focussing on their commercial work, Arni and Kinski show what music videos have been missing with this lovely showcase for Norwegian singer Aurora.

The Icelandic directing team made their name with unforgettable videos for their countrymen Sigur Ros more than a decade ago. Now they have returned to their homeland to provide the setting for I Went Too Far, and to frame a powerful symbol of the emotional torment and regret at the heart of the song: a seemingly endless ladder, emerging straight out of the sea, and from a mossy cave.

Beautifully shot by DoP Kevin Phillips – who travelled from Mexico to work with Arni and Kinski on the project – the locations provide the video with that unmistakeable otherworldly quality that not only works for their visual device, its perfect for the elfin Aurora. She's quite otherworldly too, and (as with her previous videos) she gives a tremendously heartfelt performance here. She could turn out to be the real thing.
