Not strictly a music video, but certainly an undertaking worth paying attention to - Carlos Lopez Estrada (who's provided us with some incredible videos for the likes of Thundercat and Clipping) gives us a look at volume 1 of his new project: #BARS.

The video is the product of a workshop in NYC run by Daveed Diggs (of rap group Clipping, and currently starring in the Broadway sensation Hamilton) who also takes part in this video. The idea being that each of the performers writes and performs their own verse (which they have lifted from other moments in pop culture history past and present) with the backing of a live band in one, long, impressive take.

It's an incredible undertaking for all those in front of and behind the camera and the payoff is really quite satisfying. Seriously, seeing Daveed Diggs and Rafael Casal intro this whole piece with a rap about Calvin and Hobbes had me giddy with glee. I'm surely not the only one.
