Tom Lark 'Something To Tell You' by Samuel Kristofski
David Knight - 21st Oct 2014
For New Zealand alt-popster Tom Lark, Sam Kristofski has lovingly recreated and gently spoofed the late 60s of swinging London in Auckland - inspired by a rock n roll movie classic, shooting on 16mm on old film stock, and then adding a few touches of period sci-fi silliness for extra fun. Very cool.
SAM KRISTOFSKI:
"The main inspiration was obviously Jean Luc Godards Sympathy For the Devil and the studio the Olympic Studios in London around the late 60's but IÂ added my own style to it and threw in some extra fictional elements.
"We shot it over two days on a Arri SR2 16mm camera with all expired film stock, some dating back to 1983, so I had no idea if some of the footage was even going to turn out, but that made the film making process a lot of fun and post super exciting."
