Antonio Giacca 'Chemistry' by Nathan Hussein & Kieron Johnston
Luke Tierney - 7th July 2014
Appropriately enough, the scientist turns DJ in the video for Italian producer Antonio Giacca's Chemistry, directed by Nathan Hussein & Kieron Johnston.
She mixes the contents of her test tubes like a master DJ on the decks - and then lets the bass do the rest...
NATHAN HUSSEIN & KEIRON JOHNSTON:
"With 'Chemistry', we aimed to illustrate the science behind an infectious beat. Produced on a shoestring budget, the non-Newtonian fluid experiment proved to be the perfect representation of the unification of music and science.Â
"Through the Frankenstein-esque concept, we wanted to demonstrate the madness of the dance floor and the power possessed by the DJ to bring it alive.
Â
"We shot 'Chemistry' over two days on a mix of DSLR and the Sony FS700. Given the budget and timescale (two weeks from concept to delivery), the project proved to be a successful example of an idea maintaining its integrity despite major restrictions."
