Pure Bathing Culture 'Ivory Coast' by Sean Pecknold

David Knight - 5th Oct 2012

Sean Pecknold's video for his Portland-based friends Pure Bathing Culture and their track Ivory Coast is a bucolic romance, featuring bandmembers Sarah Versprille and Dan Hindman - and Sarah's little blue friend. So having made the delightful video for Here We Go Magic earlier this year, it's Sean's second drily humourous piece featuring a strange menage a trois in a matter of months...

So having made the delightful video for Here We Go Magic earlier this year, it's Sean's second drily humourous piece featuring a strange menage a trois in a matter of months... "I became friends with Dan and Sarah from PBC as soon as I moved to Portland," says Sean. "I love the music they are making, and then they asked me to make a video. I said...sure let's do it. I really wanted to shoot something in Oregon, and specifically in the strange area south of Astoria on the coast, a place called Sunset Beach. "I wanted to make more of a performance video something I haven't done much of in the past. We went back and forth on the concept then spent a weekend out there, and made the video. I made the little blue creature just before leaving on our way out there. We luckily found an amazing trailer park with stylized interiors, that worked well for the story and just seemed to fit the world. They are a great band, and I expect greatness from their coming LP."
