Blink MD James Studholme&#39;s sideline as leader of shambly&nbsp;folk-bluegrass outfit Police Dog Hogan has led to notable videos by Blink and Colonel Blimp directors - but surely none better than this one by Fred Rowson.As Rowson explains below, the band&#39;s song Tyburn Jig provided the ideal opportunity to realise a long-cherished idea, to create a Victorian-era Rogues Gallery like no other. What marks it out is the wit and invention that&#39;s gone into fleshing out the idea, and its brilliant delivery, involving great work in various&nbsp;departments - including wardrobe, art direction, make-up and photography.The characters set before the police photographer&#39;s massive 19th century camera are an outlandish, exotic yet hapless bunch - they make Tom Hardy&#39;s band of reprobates in&nbsp;Taboo&nbsp;look slightly boring &ndash; all sentenced to hang,&nbsp;for committing pathetically trivial misdemeanours: stealing a wheel of cheese, egg smashing, pretending to have divine powers...&nbsp;&nbsp;These unfortunates&nbsp;look amazing thanks to costume design by Grace Snell, art direction by Zoe Klinck and prosthetics and makeup by Emma Croft, who transformed Studholme and other band members into the unlikeliest characters. And then there&#39;s the fact it looks rather like it was shot in Victorian times: that&#39;s down&nbsp;to the skills of DoP Stefan Yap and colourist Edwin Metternich at Framestore. Wonderful work all round - the sort of thing that makes you proud to be British.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Youth Hymns have delivered this delightful candy-coated video&nbsp;for New Zealand singer-songwriter&nbsp;Ladyhawke&#39;s A Love Song, set in an 80s video rental store where a bored employee is having a bad day rewinding returned VHS tapes - until she pops in a tape returned by a mysterious character.&nbsp;When Pip Brown aka&nbsp;Ladyhawke flashes onto the screen singing A Love Song, it hits the girl like a cupid&#39;s arrow, driving her to fall in love with - and&nbsp;plant kisses on -&nbsp;everyone coming into the store. Much goofy fun ensues, as the Youth Hymns guys indulge their obsessions with the 1980s and all things VHS, all to a soundtrack of irresistable electro-pop.&quot;Pip wanted to shoot in LA. We took her to Croydon instead,&quot; say Youth Hymns.&nbsp;&quot;When it dawned on us that no video rental stores actually existed anymore, we called our mate Dale from VivaVHS who saved the day. To celebrate the 400th anniversary of William Shakespeare&#39;s death, the British Council are releasing a film every month depicting a new interpretation of a scene from a play by the immortal Bard. The latest in the Shakespeare Lives series is this&nbsp;strikingly visual&nbsp;adaptation of a scene from Julius Caesar by&nbsp;Pedro Martin-Calero.&nbsp;Mark Stanley (Game Of Thrones, Dickensian) delivers Brutus&#39;s speech justifying the imminent assassination&nbsp;of Caesar to his fellow senators, in a scenario which combines a contemporary&nbsp;setting with elements of surrealism. And with his speech intercut with armed soldiers heading to eliminate Caesar, the&nbsp;ominous&nbsp;sense of a coup d&#39;etat unfolding is intensified by the fact this was filmed in the actual corridors of power.Due to the client and the nature of the campaign, Martin-Calero and crew had access to locations in the Treasury and the Foreign Office, where they filmed for two days.&nbsp;They certainly make good use of them, in a piece which is an object lesson on how the visual language associated with music videos can help bring the work of Shakespeare to a new audience. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;[imgtoken data:1]&nbsp;

Pop video specialist&nbsp;Carly Cussen has put together this colourful performance video for KDA&#39;s Turn The Music Louder, featuring Tinie Tempah and Katy B.&nbsp;With a circular track revolving around four retro stage setups, the&nbsp;clip takes us through 30&#39;s Mondrian,&nbsp;60&#39;s and 70&#39;s glamour, and zany&nbsp;80&#39;s&nbsp;graphics, providing colourful backdrops for the&nbsp;heavily styled&nbsp;artists and performers (just check out the&nbsp;glam squad in the credits!)&nbsp;to do their thing. &nbsp;

Sam Pilling&nbsp;directed this music video&nbsp;with&nbsp;short film qualities for&nbsp;rising R&amp;B star Dornik&#39;s song&nbsp;Drive.&nbsp;The video&#39;s authentic feel is the key to its success,&nbsp;capturing&nbsp;the excitement of young love that doesn&#39;t feel in any way staged. The video follows a couple of teens&#39; lives as confide&nbsp;in their&nbsp;best friends about their relationship,&nbsp;hook&nbsp;up in secret, and sneak&nbsp;out to see each other.&nbsp;All the while Dornik&#39;s track eases in and out of the story, giving it a freshness that makes the&nbsp;minimal&nbsp;narrative come alive.

Liverpudlian fourpiece Clean Cut Kid&#39;s first single Vitamin C comes with a video by David Mould that mirrors the&nbsp;pleasingly edgy sound of the track by introducing a protagonist who&#39;s quite a force to be reckoned with.&nbsp;Part-graceful dancer, part-volatile menace, he&#39;s a character who performs&nbsp;a lovely classic dance&nbsp;choreography yet wordlessly threatens&nbsp;all the other customers in a pub with his free and easy handling of his little friend, a large&nbsp;baseball bat.Mould collaborated with Holly Blakey on creating the movements&nbsp;of this walking contradiction - who after causing mischief among the patrons, and&nbsp;thoroughly entertaining himself, manages to&nbsp;find a partner willing to join him for the finale.

It&#39;s one of the most delicious ideas for a super-band ever, and FFS&nbsp;- the collaborative project&nbsp;between Franz Ferdinand &amp; Sparks - have recruited a supergroup of their own&nbsp;to create the first video. And Paris-based&nbsp;AB/CD/CD have made a characteristic FX-fired delight, with&nbsp;a series of loops that capture every member of group - all four Franzers, and the two Mael brothers - caught at various stages of delusion, as they attempt&nbsp;to seduce a beautiful girl.&nbsp;Its also closely aligned to the music, repeating itself in regular time, the chairs and characters change position every time the camera makes a circuit. The video&#39;s impact is in it&#39;s duplication; the video spins, the narrative unfolds, and&nbsp;ends in crescendo...
